Amy Schumer’s upcoming Netflix film, Kinda Pregnant, is set to debut this February, and guess who’s in it? None other than (honorary) Aussie and comedy queen Urzila Carlson!
Here’s everything we know about the star-studded movie and Urzila’s role that’s sure to bring the laughs.
Who is Urzila Carlson?
Urzila was born in South Africa but moved to New Zealand in 2006, and since built a reputation as a comedic powerhouse. With her quick wit and signature deadpan style, she’s won hearts on both sides of the Tasman.
She’s also made herself a staple of the Australian small screen, where you’ve probably grown to love her on popular shows like The Project, Studio 10, Spicks and Specks, Orange Is the New Brown, Have You Been Paying Attention?, Hughesy, We Have a Problem, and as a panelist on two seasons of The Masked Singer.
What is Kinda Pregnant about?
Directed by Tyler Spindel, Kinda Pregnant stars Amy as Lainy, a woman who starts wearing a fake baby bump, driven by jealousy of her best friend’s pregnancy. But during her scheme, she accidentally meets the man of her dreams.
As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Spindel worked with a script penned by Schumer and Julie Paiva. The film’s all-star cast includes Jillian Bell, Will Forte, Damon Wayans Jr., Brianne Howey, Alex Moffat, Joel David Moore, Lizze Broadway, Francis Benhamou, and, of course, Urzila!
On her Facebook, Urzila described the movie as “the romantic comedy meets horror and friendship and dumpster cupcakes that you’ve been waiting for!”.
Who does Urzila play in Kinda Pregnant?
According to her Facebook and the film’s IMDb page, Urzila will play Fallon, which she describes as “your friendly guidance counsellor guiding you through this marvellous movie.”
And if we know Urzila (and we do), Fallon’s scenes are probably going to steal the show!
