With Australian Survivor 2025 and The White Lotus Season 3 airing at the same time, it makes sense to compare the casts, and Zara Callianiotis has done exactly that.

The latest season of The White Lotus sees three girlfriends among the main characters in the cast; Jaclyn, Laurie and Kate. Jaclyn is a successful actor who lives in LA, Kate is a rich stay-at-home mum who’s Texas-based, and Laurie is a straight-talking lawyer based in New York.

During an interview with Chattr, Zara pointed out which of the cast she believes aligns with the controversial characters.

“There’s been a lot of fan feedback comparing the cast to The White Lotus, the three best friends, Kate Jacqueline and Laurie.”

“They’ve put me in the thought of being the Texan Kate, Karin Gunatilake, being Laurie, the divorce corporate and Laura [Darras] and Logan [Johannisen] as the LA actress vibe that is Jacqueline.”

The White Lotus friends struggle to see eye to eye due to their contrasting personalities, and Zara drew similarities between the Australian Survivor women.

“I think that is a really great comparison because friendships with women are really layered, and they’re complex and challenging. I don’t think this is any more evident than in Survivor.”

Why friendships on Australian Survivor are complicated

In the finale, the Jury, which is made up of eliminated players, will decide the winner, so managing relationships on Australian Survivor is one of the most important aspects of the game. It’s also important to make big moves and vote off players who are a threat to win, regardless of friendships.

Zara told Chattr that she found it harder to separate emotions from gameplay than she expected.

“The further you get into the game, the more difficult it is. I think it also comes down to the fact that you have you want to be able to pitch your case at the end, but you have to get there, and in order to get to the end, you really have to trust those people that are around you,” she said.

“It is an emotional game because you’re completely cut off from your family. I liken it to being in a zombie apocalypse, and The Graduates [alliance] out there became my new family.

“We couldn’t have been more different, but I really relied upon them, and you need people for emotional support and gameplay support and all of those other elements as well when you’re out there.”

We’ve got a feeling we haven’t seen the end of The Graduates just yet.
