Grab the popcorn and cancel your weekend plans. Netflix’s brand new series The Residence premieres on March 20, and it’s full of iconic Aussie stars, including Kylie Minogue.

Created by Paul William Davies (Scandal) and produced by Shondaland (Grey’s Anatomy, Bridgerton, How To Get Away With Murder, etc.), the whodunit series is set inside the White House. It follows a murder investigation at the Australian State Dinner, where every guest is a suspect.

132 rooms. 157 suspects. 1 dead body.

Let’s dive into all the gory details.

The Residence premiere date and episode details

The Residence premieres on Netflix tomorrow, March 20. The series has eight, hour-long episodes, which will all be available to stream in one go, so your weekend bingeing is set!

The Residence cast

While Kylie is starring as herself (Australia’s favourite entertainer, of course), The Residence also features Julian McMahon as Australia’s Prime Minister, Brett Tucker as the Australian Foreign Minister, and Nathan Lovejoy as the Aussie Ambassador.

Joining the Aussies are Uzo Aduba as eccentric detective Cordelia Cupp, Giancarlo Esposito as the newly deceased Chief Usher of The White House, Randall Park as FBI agent Edwin Park, and also features a large ensemble cast of Molly Griggs, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Edwina Findley, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez, Mary Wiseman, Eliza Coupe, Jane Curtin, and Al Franken.

The Residence plot

The series is based on Kate Andersen Brower’s book The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House. As aforementioned, it follows a murder investigation at an Australian State Dinner, where everyone in attendance, including Kylie Minogue, is a suspect.

Set “upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs” of the White House, a murder takes place at the dinner with a whopping 157 suspects at play, all with intertwined personal conflicts.

Detective Cordelia Cupp is an eccentric detective with a distinctive way of doing things. She is tasked with figuring out who killed the Chief Usher of the White House. She’s joined by FBI agent Edwin Park, a very by-the-book and stickler-for-the-rules kind of guy who is forced to put his differences aside to help Cordelia crack the case.

Is there a trailer for The Residence?

It’s giving if Cluedo was set in the White House.
