Australian Survivor 2025: Brain v Brawn II has seen a handful of castaways have their dreams slashed after being eliminated at Tribal Council. But, the future might not be so bleak for the remaining contestants, with Australian Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia telling Chattr that there will be some non-elimination twists this season.

“The challenge department do an incredible job of invention and keeping it fresh. There are a couple old favourites, but most are new or variations of classics,” Jonathan teased of the Brains v Brawn II season.

He hinted that the non-elimination twist would be reimagined for the 2025 season.

“Most of the twists are to facilitate the non-elims that are part of our format and end up being fun but we have a couple of new advantages that are used in creative and unexpected ways this season,” he continued.

Most seasons see a non-elimination round happen before the merge, and in most cases, one of the tribe members is sent to live with their opponents. This exact scenario happened in Australia Survivor 2024, when Kelli was swapped to the Titans.

Kelli was the castaway who got a Survivor non-elimination round play to her favour.

Jonathan compares Brains v Brawn II to the original season

Australian Survivor 2025 isn’t the first time that they’ve had the Brains v Brawn theme, it was initially used in the 2021 season.

Ever the diplomatic host, Jonathan said that both seasons are great in their own way.

“Even though the end goal is always the same, to win the crown of Sole Survivor, there are infinite pathways to get there and combined with a new cast and the fact it’s a player driven game, every season becomes unique in it’s own right.”

The long-time host said that viewers can expect fireworks through the entirety of the 2025 season of Australian Survivor.

“I think every season is explosive. It’s the nature of the game. A bunch of strangers must work together to survive the elements and the challenges while at the same time voting each other out every second day. Eventually, those you vote out will decide if you deserve to win. By design, it’s a pressure cooker.”

Australian Survivor 2025 airs Sundays – Tuesdays on Channel 10 and 10Play.
