Drama has been constantly boiling on-screen and off-screen for Jeff Gobbels, Rhi Disljenkovic, and Jacqui Burfoot on Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025, and now Jeff has addressed some of Jacqui’s claims that he and Rhi are using her to propel their MAFS storyline along.
ICYMI: Jacqui has been going rogue on her business Instagram page, calling out her MAFS edit and addressing the drama head-on as it happens. One of her dramatic storylines involved a confrontation with Rhi and Jeff at one of the intruder weddings, after Rhi addressed Jacqui about messaging Jeff to catch up one-on-one.
Jacqui then leaked the texts and has gone on to accuse Jeff and Rhi of using her for airtime, saying the couple wanted to become influencers.

MAFS’ Jeff says he’s ‘not surprised’ by Jacqui going rogue
In an interview with Chattr, Jeff refuted the claims that he and Rhi were using Jacqui and Ryan’s relationship for more screen time, saying they didn’t go “searching for drama”.
When asked by Chattr what he thought about Jacqui’s claims that he was using her storyline to become an influencer, Jeff laughed it off. “That is probably the most ridiculous statement that I’ve ever heard or read,” he said.
“To be honest, I’m not surprised that Jacqui went rogue. I’ll say one thing about the edit, when people go ‘I’ve got a bad edit and they didn’t show certain things’, the thing is they didn’t show a lot of things with every couple, lots of stuff gets left on the cutting room floor,” Jeff went on to explain.

“But at the same time, all the things that we all said, we said those words and we did those actions. So I feel like when people say they got a bad edit, the mirror has been held up to them, and they haven’t liked what they’ve seen.
“Instead of accepting that and going, ‘You know what, I could probably be a better person in a relationship and a better person in general’, they go on the defensive, and they go in the attack mode and I think that’s what we can see now with a few people going rogue.”
Jeff debunks popular MAFS rumour about producer-driven drama
One of the oldest rumours to plague shows like MAFS is that producers goad participants into creating or getting involved in each other’s drama for more screen time, something Jeff was quick to debunk.
“I can honestly say hand on heart that no producer ever said, ‘Go cause drama or we need more out of you’,” he said. “Everything that we got involved in, unfortunately, it just happened naturally. We didn’t go searching for drama like at the end of the day, it’s an experiment about your relationship, and that’s what we concentrated on.”

Jeff said that he, Rhi, and other MAFS participants didn’t go “searching for drama” but weren’t afraid to call out bad behaviour within the experiment, saying that’s how the show is designed to be set up.
“When you see bad behaviour or things you don’t agree with, I called that out, but I didn’t go searching for drama with other couples,” he said. “I think it’s just the environment you’re in. It’s a melting pot environment, and it just happens naturally. That’s just how it’s all designed to be set up. It just happens.”
