Just when you thought the drama would be coming to an end on Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 the experts (well, OK, the producers) threw us a curveball with the Final Test Week, which saw them introduce a new challenge dubbed ‘Is The Grass Greener on The Other Side?’
If you’re not up to date, the challenge was all about testing the remaining participants before Final Vows by offering them a chance to meet another ‘scientifically proven’ compatible match for them, aka a backup bride or groom. While some couples, like Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels, refused the challenge, others let their curiosity (cough, Paul Antoine, cough) get the better of them.
It’s probably not surprising to note that Teejay Halkias and Beth Kelly both opted to meet their backup matches, given that their own relationship has come to an absolute standstill due to Teejay’s lack of feelings.
While Beth was hoping Teejay would go on a date and realise what he’s been missing out on with her, Teejay hit it off with his backup bride Tara-lee Preston. And now, Tara has revealed to Chattr that there’s been a bit more to their connection…
MAFS’ Teejay went on a second date with his backup bride
Speaking with Chattr, Tara said she and Teejay did go on a second date, calling the MAFS groom “her type”.
“We had a second date after filming and that went well and we’re still in touch,” she shared, stating the two were probably at “different points” in their lives.
“Right now I think we’re at different points and maybe all the show fuss creates a block.”
Tara went on to say Teejay has been misrepresented on the show and just “knows what he wants” after the groom has copped flack online for not being honest with Beth about his feelings.
“Teejay is lovely. A great guy and I think they have misinterpreted him on the show. He just knows what he wants.”
Tara hasn’t ruled out MAFS 2026, saying she’s genuine about looking for love. “I’m still single and genuinely ready,” she shared.
Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
