The legal battle between Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 exes Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly has continued to heat up, after the bride provided an explanation as to why she didn’t face him in court recently.
ICYMI, Jacqui was granted an interim AVO against Ryan to prohibit him from denigrating or harassing her on social media. In response, Ryan filed an application for an ADVO against Jacqui, and he appeared in court on Wednesday at Campbelltown Courthouse.
Jacqui was physically absent from the hearing, and Magistrate Shane McAnulty has adjourned the case until Tuesday, 24 June. Outside the courthouse, Ryan gave a statement to reporters, saying: “An individual has tried to destroy my life, my potential for career options, collaborations, all that sorts with false allegations.”
Jacqui has now revealed alleged ‘proof’ she wasn’t required in court, by sharing what appears to be an email saying she was not required to physically attend.
“As this is a first mention, and you have already noted that you are opposing the ADVO and are requesting a timetable of statements be set, the court can make those orders with your email as your appearance,” the alleged email reads.
“AVL appearance is not necessary in these circumstances. Your email will be placed on the court file, and we will send you the orders thereafter.”

The bride said she was “sick of this stuff” as she has received multiple DMs from people claiming she “must be guilty for not showing up [in court]”.
MAFS’ Jacqui responds to legal drama with Ryan on TikTok
The former lawyer shared a three-minute-long video on TikTok clearing up some “misinformation” she believes has been flying around recently.
“I just want to address the claim I didn’t show up in court and I didn’t appear,” she told fans. “I actually did. So, one of the options to appear in a hearing like this is just to send an email. So I sent an email to the court registrar and said, ‘Hey, I would like to attend by AVL’, which is video link.”
“The registrar said, ‘You do not need to attend this one’. I stated that I was gonna be opposed and I want to move to timetabling and I made a note that this is a vexatious proceeding and that it’s a waste of court resources and he’s made two false statements in his application form and it should be made note of those things,” she claimed.
@jacqui.burfoot A few comments – lol excuse the editing it took a few takes to figure out what I wanted to say x

It doesn’t look like these two are going to call a truce any time soon, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens during the next court case. This is more dramatic than MAFS!
