Fans were disappointed when it was revealed that Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 groom Dave Hand originally applied to be on FBoy Island, meaning he was just after reality TV fame — not love.

However, Dave has told Chattr this isn’t true, so maybe we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

“I did not apply for FBoy Island, let me just say that,” he said.

When asked if he had been scouted for FBoy Island, he said “maybe,” which tells us all we need to know! Given his substantial social media presence, it’s possible he was also scouted for MAFS.

The Woman’s Day article which broke the story about FBoy Island also had some juicy quotes from a friend of Dave’s ex-fiancée Stephanie Jaksch, painting him out to be a bad guy.

“They split, and as we all find out, he went straight on to apply to go on reality TV,” the source claimed. “Applications for FBoy Island closed around the time of their split in November 2023.”

Dave has hit back at those rumours, and told Chattr their source isn’t a friend of his ex.

“The timeframes, that article that sort of came out is false. And it’s not even from my ex-girlfriend. I’m just gonna say that,” he said.

“Not even [from] a friend of hers, it’s from someone who shouldn’t be commenting. The article is completely thrown out of context.”

He wouldn’t elaborate much more, but he did seem upset that his past relationship drama has been pulled into the spotlight.

“I actually feel sorry for my ex-girlfriend that she’s been dragged into this,” he added.

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
