It's not looking good for Paul and Carina.

MAFS Paul and Carina final vows

As we gear up for the second part of the Married At First Sight (MAFS) Final Vows, Combined Communications Specialist and Body Language Expert Scott Taylor has decoded the body language of some of the couples who appeared in Part One.

And spoiler, it’s not looking overly promising for anyone.

While Jamie Marinos and Dave Hand recommitted and Awhina Rutene and Adrian Araouzou did… something, we were left with a cliffhanger as to what’s to come for curious groom Paul Antoine and his long-suffering bride Carina Mirable.

Body language expert predicts Carina and Paul’s Final Vows

Paul and Carina went from one of the experiment’s strongest couples, to one with a huge question mark over them as Final Vows loomed after Paul decided to go on a date and meet up with his backup bride Hannah. Oh, and he also punched a wall once, and told Awhina Rutene a disparaging remark Carina made about her twin sister Cleo (who he once dated). So, yeah, things aren’t great with the trust levels in that relationship.

Scott noted that Paul said things like “we hurt each other”, effectively placing some additional blame on Carina for his own actions, instead of taking full responsibility. Scott also said Paul’s repetitive use of filler words like “just” and “you know” added “assuming language” and “more content to his bullshit”, as Paul tried to convince Carina (and everyone watching) of his own narrative.

When it came to the Final Vows cliffhanger, Scott said Carina started blinking more rapidly and her lips withdrew when Paul started talking, signalling tension. Final verdict? We’re thinking it’s not looking like a happy ending for this Perth duo tonight.

@itsscotttaylorofficial @Married At First Sight Sunday Night Vows video! Wow so many behaviour items to share tonight 🤣 ⭕️ I share a moment silence for Jack and Tori – (who coincidentally break up nearly exactly twelve month post vows which is the term of most initial agreements) ⭕️ Paul carries on with the same 💩 and same use of the word “just” to minimise. ⭕️Jacqui states she wants her and her partner to go to each others funerals …. Um ⭕️ I share why Adrian says “me and Awhina” and my thoughts on Jamie and Dave #mafsaustralia #mafs #mafsau #marriedatfirstsight #bodylanguage ♬ original sound – itsscotttaylorofficial

What can we interpret from Awhina and Adrian’s confusing Final Vows?

Awhina’s body language may have hinted that she’s not entirely confident with the future direction of her relationship with Adrian.

Scott noted throughout the episode, Awhina fiddled with her wedding ring and put too much focus on her physical connection and chemistry with Adrian.

“For whatever reason, Awhina places a lot of validation there and she’s made some decisions around that,” Scott said, pointing out that Adrian often starts sentences with “Me and Awhina”, therefore placing more focus on himself.

Scott also noted Awhina was saying positive things about Adrian during Final Vows, but shaking her head no.

“When Awhina said, ‘This is where our journey ends’, there was no surprise or sadness from Adrian,” Scott said, stipulating that Awhina’s non-verbal cues didn’t give off the overall vibe that she wants to maintain a relationship with Adrian.

Well, we daresay the reunion episode is going to be VERY interesting.

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
