Meet the 2025 intruders

By now we know that both Lauren Hall and Eliot Donovan are coming back as intruders, with different partners, with another somewhat familiar face set to join as an intruder also — that being former Big Brother star Teejay Halkias, who starred on the 2023 season of the show, and is set to marry Bethy Kelly.

Was Jacqui really Miss New Zealand?

MAFS fans quickly learned Jacqui Burfoot is a woman of many achievements: she’s a double degree holder (law and finance), a model, a certified yoga teacher, and won the title of Miss New Zealand in 2012. Or did she?

MAFS’ Jacqui Burfoot did wear a Miss New Zealand sash, but was she actually Miss New Zealand? Photo: Instagram

In many dedicated MAFS Facebook groups, people started to question whether Jacqui was indeed Miss New Zealand, with search results coming up short. In fact, if you type in Miss New Zealand 2012, a whole different person comes up and Jacqui’s name is nowhere to be seen.

As it turns out Jacqui did bear a Miss New Zealand sash, but for a competition called Miss Yacht International, which she appeared to compete in in 2013. While she represented New Zealand, Jacqui didn’t place in the competition, with Miss Kyrgyzstan placing first, Miss China placing second, and Miss Macedonia placing third.

MAFS fans unearth Tim’s pop-punk band

While controversial groom Tim Gromie has now deleted all his social media, it’s hard to hide from the eagle-eyed MAFS fans who often turn into detectives during the seasons. Fans have since unearthed Tim’s band on Instagram, with the 38-year-old seen playing the drums for the band called The Last Dance.

One video shows them doing a cover of hit Paramore song Misery Business and, look, it’s… rough. Should a band of men enthusiastically be singing the line “Once a whore you’re nothing more”? Probably not.

Is there a trailer?

Yup! Multiple trailers have dropped since the first MAFS announcement in mid-December. You can watch them below.

When is the Married At First Sight 2025 release date?

MAFS 2025 will premiere on January 27 at 7:30pm on Channel Nine and 9Now.

Has any drama leaked?

It’s not MAFS without the drama.

New reports from The Daily Mail suggest there will be a “mass exodus” during the season, with six people reportedly leaving the show in two weeks.

According to the publication, several participants walked off the set, with producers scrambling to fix the issue.

“Some members feel relieved to see certain couples go, while others view the departures as an insult to the experiment,” the publication reported.

Who’s in the MAFS 2025 cast?

In recent years, some of the MAFS cast members have had a considerable following before going on the show, and this year is no different. In fact, it arguably has the most amount of recognisable names the show has ever seen.

Some of those include The Real Love Boat Australia’s Paul Antoine, The Bachelor’s Sierah Swepstone and Lauren Hall, who is the ex of MAFS 2024’s Jonathan McCullough (no, not Lauren Dunn).
