Radio host Kyle Sandilands has shared a sad update about discovering a second brain aneurysm in light of his diagnosis earlier this week.
Kyle initially revealed live on air during The Kyle and Jackie O Show on February 3 that he had aa brain aneurysm and requires urgent surgery
“On Friday, I was told by my medical team, which sounds like I’m already very sick, to have a medical team, that I have a brain aneurysm, and it requires immediate attention, brain surgery,” he said.
“So if you just tuned in to us after all these years, lap it up. And if you’re in Melbourne, you’re coming to the party too late. You may get your wish, I may be dead. It’s possible, it’s highly possible.”
Kyle shares an update about a second aneurysm
During the Kyle and Jackie O show that was released on February 7, Kyle explained that the surgery to remove his brain aneurysm would be complex and revealed that doctors discovered a second aneurysm in his chest. Kyle told Jackie that the surgery to remove the aneurysm comes with risks.
“The shape of [the aneurysm] has limited the operation they can do,” he said.
“So, remember, they were going to thread it through a vein and stick a little cannula in there and put this coil in there. Well, mine’s the wrong shape for a coil. So they can’t do that.”
“The only option to get to it is to [open the skull]. That will mean I have this huge scar from the forehead to top of ear and they would have to drill a hole in my skull, go into the brain and clip it off.”
Kyle explained that the doctors have recommended that he wait until the aneurysm gets bigger to do the surgery.
“They have to drill a hole through my skull the size of a drinking glass, pull that bit of skull out and go into the brain and clip it off. So they put a titanium clip on the vein where the problem is, and then they stitch me up with the plastic surgeon.
“He told me to take the weekend to think about it. It’s not going to like it’s unlikely. It’s going to rupture over the weekend. It’s on the smaller side, he said. But he has had he has had patients bleed out with much smaller aneurysms. So it’s not a joke.”
The shock jock added that the doctors found a second aneurysm that could increase his chance of having a heart attack.
“They found another one in my chest and that’s a separate surgery and I have very bad calcium build-up in the heart where I’m likely to have a heart attack,”

When Jackie encouraged Kyle to “think positive” in regard to his recent diagnosis, he responded by saying, “That shit doesn’t work in real life”.
Kyle didn’t reveal exactly when he will be having the surgery but said that he may need up to eight weeks off work.
“It’s not a blockage. It’s like, imagine your blood vessel is the garden hose, and the garden hose is weak and it blisters out like a big bubble, you know, like a puncture in it, like a bike tyre with a big bubble that bubbles the aneurysm, so it’s not blocked,” the Australian Idol judge explained.
“It’s like, it’s expanded, and if it bursts, it’s either a vegetable in the wheelchair or dead.”
Kyle gets emotional about his family
During the segment, Kyle received a video message from his wife, Tegan Kynaston, and his two-year-old son Otto.
The clip showed Otto telling his dad that he loved him and made Kyle tear up live on air.
“Sorry, after seeing that video from my child, it’s really just overwhelmingly sad now,” he said. “I don’t want to leave a wife and a little child. I know my wife has grown up without a father, and I know that that was very difficult for her.”
Jackie reassured Kyle that she believes his surgery would be successful and encouraged any listeners who’ve experienced headaches or similar reoccurring issues to get a brain scan.
