If you got a severe case of deja vu when you saw Clint Posselt belting out Sam Sparro‘s Black and Gold on Australian Idol 2025, it’s probably because you’ve already seen him grafting on Love Island Australia.

Yep, Clint’s been on TV before, and his stint on Australian Idol marks his *third* time on a reality show. Perhaps it will be a case of third-time lucky, and Clint will finally secure a win.

Clint was sent through to the Australian Idol Top 30 during the episode that aired on February 4 after impressing judges Amy Shark, Kyle Sandilands and Marcia Hines with his vocals.

Prior to competing on the singing show, Clint went all the way to the finals on Love Island Australia 2023 and was a contestant on The Voice Australia back in 2018.

Australian Idol’s Clint was on Love Island

Clint entered the Love Island 2023 villa as an intruder towards the end of the season. He instantly hit it off with unlucky-in-love Islander Savanah Badgers, and the two coupled up shortly after his arrival.

The couple’s time in the villa was relatively smooth sailing, and they made it to the finale. However, Kale Roberts and Tyra Johannes took out the win, with Clint and Savanah coming in third after runners-up Lucinda Strafford and Zac Nunns, who’ve since split.

Alas, Clint and Savanah’s relationship was meant to be, as they split shortly after filming the show.

“Me and Clint aren’t together anymore,” Savanah confirmed to 9Entertainment.

“It just sort of fizzled out after we got back to life and real responsibilities. We only knew each other for a week.”

How did Clint go on The Voice Australia?

Australian Idol marks Clint’s second attempt at winning a singing reality show.

He managed to turn all four judges chairs during The Voice 2018 Blind Auditions with his performance of Malibu by Miley Cyrus. He was eliminated during the Knockouts round where he sang Slow Hands by Niall Horan.

Following his elimination from The Voice Australia, Clint told Cairns Post that he hoped to continue his musical career.

“I want to continue music but start nice and steady, get (my) face out there,” he said.

“The show has given me great exposure and a really good opportunity to make music a meaningful part of my life.”

“I’ll start with covers and then eventually I’d like to have some of my own music, so I am just going to use this opportunity to get out and give it a go,” he added.

Well, auditioning for Australian Idol is certainly one way to do just that!
