He hasn’t had much dramatic on-screen time yet on Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025, but it seems like new groom Clint Rice might see that turn around during the upcoming Couples Retreat!
A recent addition to this season, Clint was matched with Lauren Hall, who famously saw her first groom, Eliot Donovan, walk out on their relationship after just three days together. Clint and Lauren have had a few bumps in the road, but so far, they have been one of the less dramatic, more smooth-sailing couples this season.
However, it sounds like the Couples Retreat will throw that off course, at least in terms of how they get along with other couples on the show.
What happened at the Couples Retreat?

In an interview with The Daily Mail, Clint said he and Lauren actually tried to leave the Couples Retreat and were even considering hiring a helicopter to flee!
“We couldn’t stand being around these people anymore,” he said. “The fights were non-stop, and a lot of them were just for show. It was unbearable.”
He doubled down on his accusations, comparing how other participants would handle conflict to how he chose to. In the interview, Clint mentioned a moment when he was slammed by other couples for admitting he talked behind their backs, but he says that instead of people dealing with issues in private, they would hold onto drama for the Dinner Parties.
“There were people who would hold onto an argument all day and wait until the cameras were rolling before they’d bring it up. That’s what made the dinner parties unbearable,” he said, adding that it was “all just fake fights for attention.”
Clint and Lauren will be no-shows at an upcoming Dinner Party

Clint says his hatred of Dinner Parties is the reason he and Lauren will boycott the upcoming post-retreat event.
“The dinner parties were an absolute circus,” he said. “Everyone was just trying to be the loudest, the most dramatic. It wasn’t about genuine conversations; it was just people performing for airtime.”
Clint’s revelations seem to support his co-star (and off-screen girlfriend) Jacqui Burfoot’s recent statements, too. Jacqui took to Instagram to clear up gossip around her behaviour on the show. In the post, Jacqui admitted to “playing it up (a little bit!)” for the cameras and accused the producers of turning her appearance into a “highly edited storyline”.
Given it definitely seems like Clint and Jacqui are living all loved-up in Tasmania these days, we’d say that while Clint clearly didn’t love aspects of MAFS, he probably doesn’t regret his appearance, given it led him to his new partner!
Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
