As if Australian Survivor 2025 wasn’t already chaotic enough, AJ’s Hostage strategy has thrown the new Brawn tribe into disarray.
During the episode aired on March 3, the Brawn team were sent to Tribal Council, and AJ declared that the vote for him was “about hostages”.
“I want really nice fancy hostages to show the other tribe and throw other challenges,” he told host Jonathan LaPaglia.

In short, AJ explained that because the new Brains tribe has more original Brawn post-Tribe Swap, they strategically should want to throw challenges so that they can band together and eliminate the OG Brains from their team.
And, with the Brawns sat at Tribal, AJ began to execute his Hostage plan by banding his OG Brains together to vote out Ursula.

Survivor’s Ursula believes that AJ’s Hostage plan could be successful
During a post-elimination interview with Chattr, Ursula said that while she thinks the poker player’s strategy is a “little immature”, she thinks that it could actually work in his favour.
“His main goal with having us as hostages is to encourage the new Brains to potentially throw challenges.
“If the new Brawns are sent to tribal council, AJ’s plan is to basically just start picking all of the original Brawn off. Then, come to merge that will leave the OG Brawns at a disadvantage because there’s less of them.”
If AJ’s plan were to succeed, the remaining OG Brawn players on the new Brains tribe — Myles, Laura Max and Zara — would be sent home when the new Brains throw the challenges, keeping their original team strong.

“I do think [the power] has gone to his head a little bit, but I’m actually really excited to see how it all plays out.
“I think that he will gain most of the power,” she continued. “After last night, I think it may happen.”
AJ’s plan will undoubtedly create some enemies, but hey, at least Nash will be proud of his aggressive game play.
Australian Survivor airs at 7pm on Sundays and 7:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel 10 and 10Play.
