It’s all about reinvention as Australian Idol’s Top 21 trust professional stylists to elevate their looks during Transformation Week.
But it’s not just their appearance that gets a makeover — each artist works with a vocal coach to refine their sound and take their singing to the next level. Plus, each judge has one Fast Pass they can use, which allows them to send a contestant straight through to the next round.
Transformation Week ran over three episodes. At the end of each episode, contestants were eliminated, and by the conclusion of the week, only the Top 12 were left.
To celebrate Transformation Week, we take a look at our favourite glow-ups from this season.
Gisela
16-year-old Gisela swapped her navy blue school uniform out for a glamorous peplum dress and paired it with a glossy blowout. Kyle told her she looked “fantastic” after the glow-up.

Keely
Keely chose to sing First Cut is the Deepest by Sheryl Crow for Transformation Week, and confided that she would relate the song to her first experience with heartbreak.
While undergoing her transformation, the country singer said she was “a shy girl” when she was growing up and is ready to “transform into her confident self”.

Iilysh
Small-town country girl Iilysh was shy at her first audition, and Australian Idol host Ricki Lee described her as “quiet as a mouse.”
But Transformation Week brought out the boldness in Iilysh. She ditched her trademark glasses and took the judges by surprise when she strutted out in a studded leather outfit for her performance of “Just a Girl” by No Doubt.

Marshall
While confessing that he gets “most of his clothes” from his mum, Marshall told the stylist that he wanted to keep hold of his “inner nerd” and hoped he didn’t get a buzz cut. Luckily for him, he kept (most) of his hair — and gained a suave studded suit.

Aaliyah
Alliyah didn’t speak much about her physical transformation in her feature but stressed how important the tune All My Life by K-Ci and JoJo meant to her. She donned a sequined fluffy number for her performance of the sentimental song and was sent through to the Top 12.

Jaymon
Tradie Jaymon looked lost when he saw the styling room and admitted that he felt like “a fish out of water”. Nevertheless, Jaymon’s hair was plastered with curl-defining products, and he was given a snazzy new look, complete with pocket chains.

Jake
Country boy Jake admitted that he wasn’t willing to lose his mullet and said he’d “put up a fight” with the stylist if she tried. However, they lent into his already established style and dressed him in cowboy boots, a buckled belt, and a western-style hat.
