Australian Idol transformation week

Australian Idol 2025 is taking a page out of America’s Next Top Model‘s book with Transformation Week, which will see the remaining contestants receive a “glow up”.

Transformation Week was introduced during Australian Idol 2024 and is returning for a second time.

So, how does Transformation Week work? We’ve got all the details below.

Do the Australian Idol contestants get a makeover during Transformation Week?

They do! The remaining 21 Australian Idol contestants are all getting a new look.

While the results certainly aren’t as invasive as America’s Next Top Model in it’s heyday — think weaves and meltdowns — the contestants are given a more marketable edge. In the past, this included direction from a stylist team, as well as some upgraded threads.

During last year’s Transformation Week, Australian Idol 2024 winner Dylan Wright was seen getting an assessment by a stylist.

“I’m going to get my hair chopped off,” he told his wife over Facetime before adding to the camera, “I think my wife is super nervous about what’s going to happen with this Transformation Week.”

Dylan debuted his new look on stage, ditching his standard Crocs and ripped shorts for a suaver look with much shorter hair.

What else will happen in Transformations Week?

Glow-ups won’t be the only thing happening during Australian Idol 2025’s Transformations week. After getting their makeover, the Top 21 will perform for judges Marcia HinesKyle Sandilands, and Amy Shark in the hopes of snagging a spot in the Top 12.

Seven of the contestants will fight for their lives in the competition each night over Sunday, Monday and Tuesday’s episodes until all of the contestants have performed.

Each judge has one Fast Pass, which allows them to send a contestant straight through the Top 12. The judges will have to agree on the other nine contestants.

Who will survive? We’ll know by Tuesday night!

Australian Idol 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Mondays and Tuesdays at 7:30pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
