Australian Idol 2025's Marshall Hamburger: Meet the contestant Ricki-Lee has singled out

Marshall Hamburger hasn’t just captured the nation’s attention; he’s also on the radar of Australian Idol 2025 host and temporary judge Ricki-Lee Coulter.

Marshall initially blew away Australian Idol judges Kyle Sandilands, Marcia Hines and Amy Shark in the auditions with his performance of Every Little Thing She Does by The Police.

“I have goosebumps, just all over my arms, right now. That was so incredible,” Amy told Marshall of his audition.

And, Marshall’s gone from strength to strength since his first performance on Australian Idol 2025. Here’s everything you need to know about the seriously impressive 19-year-old.

Ricki-Lee Coulter said Marshall Hamburger was one to watch

If Marshall’s haunting vocals alone aren’t enough to prove he’ll go far this season, Ricki-Lee singling him out as one to watch almost certainly does.

During an interview with Chattr, Australian Idol host Ricki Lee, who filled in as a judge for Kyle in a recent episode, listed two contestants that she thinks will make it far in the competition. The first was Iilysh Retallick.

“There’s also a guy named Marshall Hamburger, who’s just incredible. I think he’s definitely one to watch,” she revealed.

Marshall has been musical since he was a baby

Marshall has been passionate about music all his life, even when he was a little tot. The Australian Idol hopeful shared an adorable video on Instagram shortly after he made it through to the Top 30.

The clip shows him playing a piano with his dad as a baby and then again as (the cutest ever!) toddler. The stroll down memory lane features multiple pictures of Marshall with musical instruments, and in is his very first band.

Marshall has started racking up a bit of an Australian Idol fan club, with viewers flooding the show’s official Instagram page with praise for him.

“This team NAILED IT. [Marshall] is the absolute standout every time,” one person wrote on a clip of his Group performance with Izellah and Iiysh.

Meanwhile, his single performance videos were littered with comments about him taking out the Australian Idol 2025 crown.

“Wowowowo Marshall Hamburger. Top 3, calling it now,” one person wrote. Another commented: “Here is our winner!”

A third penned their appreciation for the 19-year-old’s talent. “Absolutely stunning Marshall! Gosh it’s SO the time for a wonderful male voice like yours to come along. Sung & played with such believe-ability & authenticity. Thank you! “
