The latest season of Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2025 is in full swing, and we’re here for all the juicy drama the MAFS 2025 couples are bringing to the table.
One couple that’s kept us on our toes so far is Awhina Rutene and Adrian Araouzou. The pair have an undeniable chemistry but have had nothing short of a turbulent relationship so far, with the couple facing blow after blow.
Most recently, Adrian and Awhina re-entered their honeymoon era. Or, at least, that’s what it looked like during the Couples Retreat.
The duo were taking long walks on the beach, kissing and cuddling, and drawing (wonky AF) hearts in the sand. Awhina even admitted she was feeling the same “cute and light” connection she did when they first tied the knot, saying “We’re back to our old selves.”
However, Clint has confirmed that the couple’s romantic comeback didn’t spell success for their relationship.
What did Clint say about Adrian and Awhina’s relationship?
During an interview with Chattr, Clint all but confirmed that the controversial MAFS couple’s relationship didn’t make it post-show.
“Jacqui and Ryan hate each other and Adrian and Awhina, Sierah and Billy – they’ve all turned on each other,” he told us.
Jacqui and Ryan’s distaste for each other doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, considering that Sierah and Billy left the experiment and Jacqui and Ryan have made their feelings about one another clear post-show. However, Clint’s tidbit seems to confirm that Adrian and Awhina’s reconciliation doesn’t last.
What happens between Awhina and Adrian during Final Test Week?
Awhina and Adrian’s relationship isn’t super strong, because they both opt to meet alternative matches during the Final Test Week’s ‘grass is greener’ challenge.
“Weirdly, Adrian and Ryan’s matches were both told to tell them that they were supposed to be the first choice brides on the show, but they couldn’t be there for filming because they were overseas,” the insider reveals.
“This raised suspicion as to whether or not these ‘matches’ were actually actors, or some of them were actors.”
However, another source confirmed that Adrian and Awhina (somehow) made it all the way to the Final Vows, where they said no, but they still spent the night together afterwards. Spicy!
The inside info will come as a shock to many viewers, as Adrian and Awhina appeared to be on the brink of splitting after their fiery lunch.
What else do we know about whether Adrian and Awhina stay together after MAFS?
Adrian and Awhina have been sending mixed messages about whether they’re still dating post-MAFS. However, that appears to be all for show, because a source has confirmed to Chattr that they’re no longer together.
But, despite the tumultuous relationship that’s currently playing out between the couple on TV, Adrian uploaded a video on his twin brother’s TikTok on Valentine’s Day. In the short clip, he can be seen giving Awhina a rose before the video pans to the two looking cosy and Adrian kissing her on the cheek.
“Cupid (experts) did well,” the video was captioned.

That same day, Adrian was seen picking Awhina up from a MAFS girls’ reunion in Melbourne, as captured by Josh Fox from the MAFSfunny Instagram page and podcast.
Adrian was spotted with a mystery woman
Earlier this year Yahoo! Lifestyle reported Adrian was seen holding hands with a mystery woman on Friday, January 31st, sparking the first whispers of Awhina and Adrian’s split.
“I was in the city on Friday night, see a bloke who looks super familiar — I’m like wait a sec, that’s Adrian from MAFS and he’s holding hands with a girl,” the source said.
“I then notice that it’s not the girl he got married to on the show and they were looking very cosy together.”
Adrian initially claimed the man in question was actually his twin brother, James, but he’s since admitted on the MAFSFunny podcast that it actually was him with a woman he casually dated called Geneva.
The pics were snapped after the filming of MAFS 2025 had wrapped, so fair to say things aren’t looking great for the couple.
Clint let us know us early on that Adrian and Awhina “turned on each other”
Now, it certainly looks like any Valentine’s Day shenanigans were just a publicity stunt — but we already had a hunch. In a candid interview with Chattr, groom Clint revealed that Awhina and Adrian are one of a few couples who’s ending is anything but happy.
“Jacqui [Burfoot] and Ryan [Donnelly] hate each other and Adrian and and Awhina, Sierah [Swepstone] and Billy [Belcher] — they’ve all turned on each other,” he said.
The tipping point seemed to be the Final Task in MAFS Episode 35, where the brides and grooms were tempted to explore connections with alternative matches.
Both Adrian and Awhina went through with the task, and it left emotional carnage in its wake, especially after Adrian brushed off Awhina’s hurt, saying he “couldn’t care less” that she went on the date.
“He doesn’t see me. He only sees himself,” a heartbroken Awhina said.
Things came to blows at the Final Dinner Party in Episode 36. Despite arriving hand-in-hand, things took a turn quickly.
“When push came to shove, Adrian and I really crumbled,” Awhina confessed.
During the dinner, Adrian started backtracked on his earlier promise to try long-distance “for the right person,” saying, “I care about Awhina… but do I care enough to pack up and leave tomorrow? No.”
Awhina wasn’t having it. “I am not the right person. Say it,” she challenged.
In the end, Awhina made it clear: “I don’t want to be here wasting my time anymore,” but not before a blunt “F*ck final vows.”
She walked out of the dinner party, marking what feels like a pretty definitive end to a messy MAFS “love story.”
But we won’t know until we know. Will Awhina end up making it to Final Vows? We’ll have to wait and see.
