Trump Inspires Muslims to Share "Suspicious Activity"

“Someone in my house didn’t close the cereal box this morning.”

During Sunday’s presidential debate Republican nominee, Donald Trump had (as usual) a lot to say about his proposal to ban Muslims in America.

Trump said he was worried that refugees from a country like Syria could be acting as a “Trojan horse”. Democrat Hillary Clinton condemned Trump and defended bringing refugees to the United States.

When Trump was asked about the massive issue of Islamophobia, he conceded that while it was an issue, Muslims who come into the U.S. must “report when they see something going on”.

So that’s exactly what Muslim Americans have started doing, with very entertaining results. Using Twitter as a platform, Muslim Americans have been reporting any suspicious behaviour they see with their very own hashtags #muslimsreport and #MuslimsReportStuff.

If you haven’t seen some of the threats yet you better take a look:

According to a recent article from the Washington Post the FBI does not agree with Trump that Muslim Americans are failing to report things. After the Orlando shootings earlier this year, FBI Director James Comey refuted Trump’s claims that Muslims don’t report suspicious activity, saying that the FBI had a good relationship with the Muslim community.

“They do not want people committing violence, either in their community or in the name of their faith, and so some of our most productive relationships are with people who see things and tell us things who happen to be Muslim,” Comey said speaking to Reuters.

Hopefully Trump starts to pay attention to all the tweets and does something to ensure America is safer – starting with finding out why Mariem’s husband did the dishes that day.
