After making an absolute spectacle of himself at the first Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 dinner party, Australia’s least-favourite MAFS groom Tim Gromie is set for even more drama at the first commitment ceremony, due to air Sunday night.
The controversial groom, who has already thrown in the towel on his MAFS marriage to Katie Johnston after delivering a bare minimum effort, will reportedly do exactly what he did at the first dinner party and storm out of the commitment ceremony when he doesn’t get his way, according to So Dramatic.
An insider told the podcast that Tim felt “stitched up” and that he doesn’t take it well when the experts “rip into him”, leading him to finally leave the experiment.
MAFS fans react to Tim’s shocking dinner party behaviour: “Single for life”
It’s safe to say fans won’t be sad to see the back of Tim, after his dinner party antics left MAFS viewers outraged during Monday night’s episode, with the groom being called out for gaslighting Katie, leading to her apologising to him at the dinner party.
In case you need a quick refresher, Tim has not been a stellar husband after being disappointed with Katie upon meeting her at the altar, as his usual type is “petite, blonde or brunette”. After a painful honeymoon which left Katie in tears numerous times as a guarded Tim appeared to dodge her attempts at getting to know him better, Katie and Tim went to the dinner party separately.
While Katie asked the group to stand-down on their attacks on Tim and give him space, later at the dinner party he turned on his wife saying he felt like she didn’t put enough effort in. “All I will say is that I feel like I’m the one who has made most of the effort,” Tim said, with Katie later telling producers, “Hearing that I was like ‘what the hell?’ He’s the one who has been pushing me away since day one. He’s the one who has rejected me.”
Tim then went on to tell Katie she “betrayed his trust” by not sticking up for him, saying he was the most “honest” out of the two of them. “One of the things I find hard about you is you are who you, and maybe because you’ve been by yourself for so many years, that’s who you are,” he then said to Katie, leading her to apologise to him.
Needless to say, MAFS fans were pretty furious at the gaslighting masterclass, taking to social media to slam the groom’s behaviour.
“Tim gave a masterclass on how to gaslight someone at tonight’s dinner party!” one person said, with another agreeing, “Tim needs a reality check… no self awareness at all.”
“He’s going to be single for life now,” someone else commented, with another saying, “I’m just feeling really sad and disappointed that there are people like Tim out there thinking that sort of behaviour is a totally normal and acceptable way to treat a woman.”
Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
