The Block 2024 wrapped up with Maddy and Charlotte winning big for House 1, but for long-time viewers, there’s one question that remains: do Jesse and Paige get any money for their contributions to the property?
Do Jesse and Paige get a share of the winnings?
House 1’s journey on The Block this season was unique. Originally, it was the project of Jesse and Paige, the Blue team members who left after five weeks. Maddy and Charlotte then took over and completed the house, eventually winning the season. Following their victory, Yahoo Lifestyle spoke with Maddy and Charlotte, who clarified that while the prize money is “contractually” theirs, Jesse and Paige have been “looked after”.
Maddy shared, “We have been told that contractually, it’s ours as we sold it, but you know, they have been looked after and they’ll be just fine.
“They were very gracious and sent us a message and congratulated us and were very excited which was really lovely,” she said.
Why can’t Maddy and Charlotte split their winnings?
Though Maddy and Charlotte might have considered sharing their prize, a source told Yahoo that show rules prohibit contestants from splitting winnings.
“In most competition reality [shows], the contracts will state that you can not make an agreement to split prize money and the reason is more obvious than what people would think. You can’t pal up with other contestants as it creates an advantage and that is unfair to the other competitors,” the source explained.
Further, Jesse and Paige were reportedly made aware they’d forfeit house profits upon leaving.
Show creator Julian Cress shared with TV Week: “Maddy and Charlotte will take home whatever profit they make above their reserve. But without going into detail, Jesse and Paige won’t leave the show empty-handed for the work they’d done.”
The Block streams on Channel 9 and 9Now.
