Spotify Offer Barack Obama 'President of Playlists' Job

Life after the Oval Office won’t be as exciting for President Barack Obama once his term ends on Jan 20. However, at least he won’t have to worry about future job prospects, as he’s just been offered a position at streaming giant Spotify as their ‘President of Playlists’.

Spotify co-founder and CEO Daniel Ek reached out to Obama on Twitter, saying, “I heard you were interested in a role at Spotify. Have you seen this one?”

The job description lists a number of things the company is looking for in potential ‘candidates’, including:

  • Having at least eight years experience running a highly regarded nation.
  • The ability to create new playlist ideas, like “a playlist for shooting hoops with your friends”, “the perfect warm up playlist for addressing the nation about health care legislation that bears your name” or an “I found my birth certificate playlist”.
  • Being “one of the greatest speakers of all time”.
  • Have a good team spirit, excellent work ethic, a friendly and warm attitude, and a Nobel Peace Prize.

Swedish ambassador Mark Brzezinski noted on an Instagram post that the president had joked with him about a possible position at the company.

“I’m still waiting for my job at Spotify…cause I know y’all loved my playlist”.

While Barack Obama has yet to respond, he’s definitely the most qualified man for the job. He’s a well-known music fan, has previously released a summer playlist on his Twitter account and even being spotted dancing with Usher to Drake’s Hotline Bling. The world still needs some Obama lovin’, and a cultivated playlist by the man himself, is just what we all need.
