After a week of teasing and none too subtle hints about the release of a new song, Australia’s very own eccentric songstress Sia Furler, in collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, have dropped new track The Greatest.

It’s accompanying music video stars talented 13-year-old Maddie Ziegler, who has become Sia’s stage alter-ego and honours victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting.

While it hasn’t been officially confirmed by Sia or her people regarding the nature of her video and the tragedy in Orlando, dancer Matt Moseley, who features as one of the 49 dancers, has publicly confirmed the intent on one of his Instagram posts, including the hashtag #WeAreYourChildren

The video itself is a visually stunning and a haunting tribute to the victims, at one point Ziegler is shown to wipe rainbow tears down her cheeks, whilst the camera pans around the dancers bodies which have been piled atop of each other.

The song delivers a powerful message about overcoming tragedy and being stronger because of it, no doubt something we can all get behind and support.
