Screen Actors Guild Awards 2023: The complete winners list

The 29th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) celebrates the best in film and television, and on February 27, the winners were announced!

Actor Sam Elliott won a SAG for 1883, the first in his 55-year career, while Ke Huy Quan (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom) continued his success with a gong for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for Everything Everywhere All at Once — becoming the first Asian actor to ever win the award.

“For everyone at home waiting to be seen, please keep going because the spotlight will one day find you,” he said.

Presented by Andrew Garfield, Sally Field, 76, won the lifetime achievement award, leaving the room in tears with her grace and eloquence.

“[Acting] has never been about a need to hide myself behind other people’s characters.. it is those few precious moments where I feel dangerously alive.”

“I’ve been Mrs Doubtfire’s employer, Forrest Gump’s mother, Lincoln’s wife and a superheroes’ aunt,” she said. “I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of projects… that my hands shook when I read them.”

“In all of these almost sixty years, there’s not a day that I don’t feel quietly thrilled to call myself an actor.”

Jennifer Coolidge continued her winning streak with a SAG Award

Jennifer Coolidge — who IS the moment — has continued living her best lyfe by winning a SAG award for her turn in the White Lotus.

“I want you all to know that I am just so grateful,” she said through tears. “The best thing you can give is to change someone’s perspective for the better, and that’s what Mike White [creator of White Lotus] did for me.”

Shortly after, the cast of The White Lotus won for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

The In Memoriam showcased the stars who left us in 2022, including Olivia Newton-John, Raquel Welch, Richard Belzer, Kirstie Alley, Leslie Jordan, Angela Lansbury and Irene Cara — whose song, Out Here On My Own from Fame provided the backing track.

Everything Everywhere All at Once won big

Michelle Yeoh — who was arguably the most popular woman in the room — won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for Everything Everywhere All At Once. She is also the first Asian to receive the award.

“This is not for me,” she said. “This is for every little girl who looks like me.”

Brendan Fraser — who has been a member of SAG since 1991 — beat out favourite Austin Butler to take home the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for The Whale.

“We’re actors. We all want to belong in a tribe, and I felt like I belong,” he said of being part of the union.

Sweeping the awards, Everything Everywhere All at Once took home the final nod of the evening for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

The entire cast accepted the award, with ICON 94-year-old James Hong — who received his SAG card 70 years ago.

“The Asians were not good enough and not box office enough, but look at us now!” he said.
