Do you hear that? It’s the sound of the ancient drumming of the demon game from your childhood! Oh no wait, it’s just the sound of another remake. On Instagram, Dwayne The Rock Johnson confirmed that he is working on a new Jumanji movie. He stated that he wants to recreate a movie that he loves for a new generation to grow up with. Now, The Rock is working on polishing up the script which is being worked by the writers of Seven Bucks Productions, a co-founded production company of The Rock and Dany Garcia.

It's OFFICIAL: Love this script! Big movie news that me and my canine gal Shang are excited to share;) To produce, create and deliver original properties to fans like HBO's #ballers to this summer's #CentralIntelligence is one of the best parts of my job. But to take great properties that are beloved worldwide like #BAYWATCH and #RAMPAGE and have the opportunity reimagine their stories in dope new ways to a whole new generation is truly an honor. It's official. We'll produce and deliver to a whole new generation a title that I love and is one of my all time favs: There's games you play for fun… then there's games that change your life. JUMANJI Working on edging up an already very good script with my @sevenbucksprod team. Up next is meeting with our producer Matt Tolmach and director Jake Kasdan. Shooting starts this fall. Promise to deliver something cool and special.. and not screw the whole damn thing up;). As always I'll keep you posted. Casting this should be fun! #JUMANJI #JungleLife #JustPressStart #SONYPictures

The new movie will be produced by Matt Tolmach, who directed the latest installments of The Amazing Spiderman (take that as you will, I found those movies pretty abysmal). Jumanji will also be directed by Jake Kasdan, who has previously directed movies such as Bad Teacher and Sex Tape, both of which did poorly in cinemas and were met with little enthusiasm from audiences.

I believe that even though it is the age of reboots and re-imaginings, Jamanji is an almost prefect movie and, with the late, great Robin Williams not able to even take part in the new film, it should be left alone. Along with this, both director and producer haven’t had the best collection of hit movies and have been met with disdain from viewers. With The Rock being attached this could add to his list of movie flops, apart from the Fast and Furious movies and of course The Scorpion King; that movie is pure gold.

Even The Rock doesn’t want to ruin the name of Jumanji and while there isn’t too much of a complicated story to mess up, it could all come down to the acting and a way that they can make a new movie around the concepts without having to fall back on the previous movie to draw a buzz. There needs to be a sense of adventure in this movie and as a kid I actually thought that, through the acting, there was a sense of danger, and without the masterpiece that is Williams (who oozed charisma and character) it could be hard to match the energy level of the first. Actors that I could see playing Alan Parrish would be someone like Oscar Isaac, who can go from serious to comedic gold in a second, or maybe even someone like Huge Jackman who also has some of the best acting that could fit easily in the world of Jumanji.

How do you feel about a new Jamanji movie being made? Do you think that they should leave the story alone or would having The Rock make this film as good, if not better than last? Let us know in the comments below.
