Well, would you look at that! Prime Video’s Road House has become an… ahem… knockout success.
The film, which debuted on the streaming platform on March 21, has now attracted a record-breaking 50 million worldwide viewers over its first two weekends, becoming Amazon MGM Studios’ most-watched produced film debut ever! INCREDIBLE!
Written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry, the film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton, an ex-UFC fighter trying to escape his dark past and his penchant for violence.
Dalton is barely scraping by on the reputation that still precedes him when he is spotted by Frankie (Jessica Williams), owner of a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. She hires him to be her new bouncer in hopes of stopping a violent gang, working for crime boss Brandt (Billy Magnussen), from destroying her beloved bar.
Even five to one, Brandt’s crew is no match for Dalton’s skills, but the stakes get higher with the arrival of ruthless gun-for-hire, Knox (Conor McGregor – yes, THE Conor McGregor).
As the brutal brawls and bloodshed escalate, the tropical Keys prove more dangerous than anything Dalton ever faced in the Octagon.
Starring alongside the aforementioned cast are Daniela Melchior, Joaquim De Almeida and Lukas Gage, who has seen huge success (and a failed marriage to Kim Kardashian’s hairstylist Chris Appleton) since his first acting credit on The White Lotus.
The movie is based on the 1989 1989 MGM flick Road House starring Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliot and is also available now for fans of the cult favourite to watch on Prime Video.
Outstanding!
