The 95th Academy Award (the Oscars) nominations have been announced and once again, Aussies Cate Blanchett, Baz Lhurmann and Catherine Martin have received nods for their work in Tár and Elvis respectively.
Cate, who won Best Actress (drama) at the 2023 Golden Globes is up for Best Actress while Baz and Catherine have received eight, including Best Picture and Best Costume Design for their epic film, Elvis.
Everything Everywhere All at Once, which received a slew of awards at the Globes, has led the charge with a whopping 11 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress and Actor in a Supporting Role and Best Music.
The film will compete against All Quiet on the Western Front, Avatar: The Way of Water (starring Aussie Sam Worthington) The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, The Fabelmans, Tár, Top Gun: Maverick, Triangle of Sadness and Women Talking.
Meanwhile, the internet’s favourite boyfriend — and Stan’s Normal People break-out star — Paul Mescal, received his first ever Oscar nom, and his family went absolutely nuts!
