MasterChef's Gill

You won't believe the impressive new gig MasterChef Australia 2024’s Gill has landed

MasterChef Australia 2024’s Gill Dinh might not have won this year’s competition, but she has come out of the show with an impressive new cooking gig.

The bubbly contestant shared on Instagram that she’s landed a gig at the popular Wollongong restaurant K.Malu Kitchen in Wollongong.

“Have you spotted the new talent in the K.malu Kitchen? 🧑‍🍳,” the restaurants wrote on Instagram. [Gill[ is working alongside Keana after her incredible stint on @masterchefau this year. We’re so proud of her efforts and were lucky to have her with us, not only cooking but painting gorgeous murals in the restaurant. Stay tuned for a special event with Gill this July!”

Gill shared the post on her own Instagram and explained her excitement.

“Cats outta the bag now – a special event coming soon, end of July/start of August! Stay tuned,” she wrote alongside the repost.

What is the restaurant like?

K.Malu is a “modern European venue with a menu designed to be shared among friends”.

The menu includes delectable offerings like Charcoal Octopus, Saffron Risotto and a Savoury Donut which features parmesan cheese and homemade French onion dip.

The restaurant has absolutely glowing reviews and is sitting at a 4.9 out of 5 star rating on Google Reviews, so it’s safe to say it’s worth a visit!

Gill’s post-MasterChef plans

During an interview with Chattr, Gill touched on her future career aspirations.

“I’m trying to learn as much as I can in the culinary world in a commercial setting, acquiring skills in that fast-paced environment. I want to put this into practice in the real world, open my own pop-ups, or collaborate with local businesses and people to do takeovers. Ultimately, the end goal is to intertwine my passions in food and art,” she explained.

“That’s through both a cookbook and present experiences. The whole purpose of food for me is to connect with people. Being able to intertwine my passions for food and art is the ideal scenario.”

She added, “That’s where I’m heading. That’s the main goal for me.”
