Interview: Dessert Masters Reynold thought the kitchen would be hard, but the media can be worse

Reynold Poernomo was thrust back in the public eye when he competed on Dessert Masters 2023, however, it’s not the first time he hit the headlines.

Back in 2014, he competed on MasterChef Australia season seven and came in fourth place. He went on to take part in season twelve, where he placed third.

Then, in 2020 some homophobic comments he posted months before his first MasterChef appearance in a body-building forum resurfaced. The comments went viral and there were countless negative articles about his remarks.

He has since apologized and told Daily Mail Australia he’s “deeply ashamed” of the comments.

Reynold Poernomo. Instagram.

During an interview with Chattr, Reynold reflected on how he’s learned to deal with the negative side of being in the public eye, including having old comments come back to haunt him.

“One of the biggest things is to move on and learn,” he said, adding: “There’s been many lows. I told myself, “Okay, as long as I can get through this, it will set me up for bigger challenges in the future.”

Reynold reiterated that public backlash has made him a stronger person and helped him grow.

“There have been small, petty things to some really big things and there are things and areas in life where you’ll be faced with very difficult challenges.

“It’s all about being wise and learning from it and being able to grow from it, especially when you do grow from it you get stronger and can take on bigger challenges.”

The Dessert Masters runner-up, who now boasts over a million followers on Instagram, added that he never intended to become a public figure.

“I just keep doing what I love, which is just making food.”

Reynold is expanding his restaurant

Reynold is one of the many chefs who competed on Dessert Masters 2023 and owns an eatery.

He and his brothers Ronald and Arnold Poernomo founded KOI Dessert Bar and have since opened KOI Experimental. They also own a small bar called Monkey’s Corner which sits in Sydney’s Chippendale.

Reynold revealed that now that Dessert Masters is over, he is focussing on opening Koi in Melbourne.

“We are going to be expanding to Melbourne,” he said. “I was hoping for it to be earlier, but with design changes etcetera, it will be opening in March and then I’ll be looking abroad for overseas opportunities.

“I just want to give it one last shot in the high-end side of things in Australia before I move on.”

Interview: Graciemae reveals the real reason Tay and Ari wanted her out of the Big Brother house

Hearts broke across the nation when Graciemae was voted out of the Big Brother house and the PA believes that her eviction was personal.

During an interview with Chattr, Graciemae said that she believes the reason that sisters Tay and Ari nominated her was to get back at her. Earlier in the season, the girls had a problem with their intruder housemate Bella, and Graciemae defended her.

“I was extremely shocked that three girls were put up for eviction,” she said. “In the extended eviction, Dion referenced that I stood up for Bella, which is why the sisters weren’t happy with me.”

Big Brother. Seven.

Graciemae was nominated by the sisters and Josh, after they won the nomination challenge.

There had been a strong girls vs boys dynamic in the house, which led viewers to believe the sisters followed Josh because three females were put up for nomination. However, Graciemae doesn’t agree.

“I don’t necessarily think that that It was all Josh, I truly think that it was 50/50 or maybe 70 Josh, 30 the sisters.

“After watching it back and seeing [the sisters] say, ‘You guys aren’t going, it’s going to be her’ referring to me. I thought maybe they did want me out. I’m not certain that they did blindly follow Josh.”

Gracie Mae felt most betrayed by Dion

Graciemae was shocked to find out that Dion had voted for her to be eliminated and believes that someone else convinced him to do so.

“It was sad to see Dion vote me out. I was really close with him the entire series. And I really wanted him in that top three with me. So I know that someone had obviously gotten in his ear to say, ‘Gracie doesn’t want you there’, which is just not true.

Big Brother. Seven.

“I can’t believe that he believed them over me. I feel like I’m extremely genuine. And I always was with them. But I know that he had a close bond with the sisters.”

Regardless, she said that she’s since mended her relationship with him.

“The second he was out of the house he rang me. He is someone that is so close to my heart. He’s such a genuine soul. We really have a really beautiful connection down and I think the world of him.”

Big Brother Australia airs Monday to Thursday at 8:30 pm on 7 and 7Plus.

Channel 7 personality accused of child sex crimes has 40 more charges added

A Channel Seven media personality who was recently revealed to have a string of charges against her has been hit with 40 more.

**Content warning: This article may contain references involving child sex crimes that may trigger readers.**

The woman can not be named because of legal reasons, and the charges include rape, torture, assault and serious child abuse offences. The woman is currently on trial in Richlands Magistrates Court.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the unnamed woman had 37 charges against her. She’s since had an additional 38 added on November 7th and an additional charge added on November 10th. One charge of common assault has since been dropped.

Prior to October, people who were charged with sexual offences in Queensland were able to stay anonymous, however, on October 3rd the law changed and those charged can legally be named by the media.

However, the woman’s lawyer requested that her identity stay hidden because of her public profile. The judge granted the request on the basis that she may self-harm if her name was revealed. It was reported that the woman attempted self-harm earlier this year after the charges themselves were made public.

The only information about her identity that has been publicly revealed is that she recently appeared on a popular Channel 7 TV show.

The woman’s partner, who also cannot be named, is also facing charges of torture and common assault, among others.

Magistrate Aaron Simpson has increased the woman’s bail and the matter has been set down for committal mention on January 23, 2024.

Below Deck Mediterranean’s Kyle reckons he and Natalya are friends again but it looks suss to us

Kyle Viljoen and Natalya Scudder have been locked in a bitter feud throughout recent episodes of Below Deck Mediterranean and it appeared their friendship was done for good.

However, Kyle has shared a gushing post on Instagram to reveal that he and Natalya are friends again which… looks suss to us.

“It has been a year in the making but time heals most wounds however, we’re just glad to being back as friends again, part of the post read.

“We’re happy to be back together and hopeful that the positive, crazy and outrageously great times are ahead.”

Kyle signed off the post with “much love to you! Nat & Kyle”

Why is it suss?

First of all, Natalya isn’t tagged in the post, despite it apparently being a joint statement from her and Kyle. Furthermore, she doesn’t follow him, nor has she mentioned anything about their reconciliation on her own Instagram page.

On top of that, things seemed far from friendly at the recent BravoCon convention in Las Vegas, where Natalya told a reporter that she wouldn’t pour a cup of water on Kyle if he were on fire. In fact, she said she’d grow sea monkeys in the glass. Which is… something?

What happened between Kyle and Natalya?

If you need a refresher, Kyle and Natalya worked together on Below Deck Mediterranean season seven and were great mates. They both returned for season eight of the show, which is when things started to go wrong.

The two stews fought repeatedly through the season and had a full-on blow-out in episode nine. Natalya decided to leave the charter after Kyle screamed at her after a night, and he was given a stern talking to by Captain Sandy.

Since then, fans have generally sided with Natayla and condemned Kyle over his actions. He later shared a long (now deleted) statement on Instagram asking fans to be nicer to him in light of the events.

Interview: WTF? Gareth Whitton told us there’s no running water in the Dessert Masters kitchen

The cast of Dessert Masters 2023 was made up of some of the best chefs in the nation, so naturally one would assume that they’d have cooking basics, like running water, for example.

But, apparently, that wasn’t the case, as Dessert Masters 2023 winner Gareth revealed during a post-win interview with Chattr.

“The sink is actually filled with cold water because the whole warehouse isn’t plumbed,” he said.

Gareth explained that there were drums of water kept under the sink, and the water would be pumped up. However, the drum wouldn’t always have enough water for the entire cook.

“It happened all the time. They’re pumping the water up through the faucet out of the tap. If you ran out of water, the [producing] team would have to come through with a big forty-gallon drum and swap it out halfway through.”

Dessert Masters. Ten.

The crew replacing the water had to avoid the cameras

While the water issue sounds like enough of an obstacle, Gareth explained that simply replacing the drum wasn’t the only barrier.

“The guys couldn’t be getting in the line of the camera. So they would have to crawl under the benches and empty your sinks or wait until the cameras were somewhere else.”

Gareth said that the cameras also posed an issue for him during his cook, as when he was moving around the kitchen or heading to the pantry, he had to always be careful to avoid running between the crew.

“I hated the fact that there’s a side of the kitchen that you can’t actually run down because it’s full of cameras but the viewers obviously don’t see that. That’s why bench selection was so key.”

Dessert Masters. Ten.

Gareth had to pretend to stay busy until the cook time was up

Almost every episode of Dessert Masters and it’s sister series MasterChef shows the contestants furiously running around the kitchen until the last second of their cook time.

However, Gareth admitted that he tended to finish his cook well before time was up, and was asked to look busy.

In the Semi-Final I had ten minutes left and I just stood around,” he said. “My bench was spotless and [the producers] were like, “Can you leave some stuff on your bench please? We need to make it look organic, so when you’re plating up it still looks like you’re in the middle of a cook.”

Dessert Masters. Ten.

Gareth joked that he’d rather the show let him clear away his mess once he’d finished and instead pretend that he was a “really clean cook”.

“That would be a lot nicer image for me, thank you,” he laughed, before joking: “If anything, I probably could have gone and helped Kirsten take the paper off the bottom of the birdcage.”

He will be joined by the fabulous RHOS cast Caroline Gaultier, Dr Kate Adams, Krissy Marsh, Nicole O’Neil, Sally Obermeder, Terry Biviano and Victoria Montano.

The one-hour special will see the housewives revisit some of the most dramatic moments of the season and those will most likely come hand in hand with some screaming matches. It will also look back at all the hilarious and memorable moments, as well as the extravagant, high-end fashion, that have kept audiences tuning into the popular series.

Joel Creasy. Binge.

Why Joel Creasy?

Of course, Joel Creasy is a hilarious Australian comedian who doesn’t hold back on digging for dirt when it comes to anything gossip-related. However, he actually had a specific connection to Real Housewives of Sydney.

Joel hosts a weekly podcast called Real Housewives of Sydney where he interviews the housewives about what went down on the latest episode of the show.

Since the season started, he’s chatted with Krissy, Caroline, Dr Kate, Victoria, and Sally. You can find all of the episodes here.

Is this the first ever Real Housewives of Sydney reunion?

No, season one of Real Housewives of Sydney, which aired back in 2017, had a reunion and it was hosted by Australian fashion designer Alex Perry.

Real Housewives of Sydney season one reunion. Bravo.

As per most Housewives reunions, the special bought the drama and it saw≈‘ Levendi and Victoria Rees go all out in a screaming war.

At the time, The Daily Telegraph reported that Athena had to be restrained after threatening to “f**king smash” Victoria after the cameras stopped rolling.

With tensions escalating between Terry and Krissy in recent episodes, one can only imagine the d-r-a-m-a that will ensue in the upcoming instalment.

Will Remi REALLY die during the Home and Away 2023 season finale? Here’s everything we know

It’s been a chaotic and intense year on Home and Away and November 29’s triple ep finale is set to get your heart racing with one question on everyone’s lips. Does Remi (Adam Rowland) really die?

While Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) and Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) head off for what is seemingly an innocent camp getaway, back at the Bay, Bree (Juliet Godwin) tells her boyfie Remi that she wants to join Doctors Without Borders, asking him to come with her. While a tough decision, it’s clear Remi cannot let the love of his life go.

Cash and Eden. Home and Away
Cash and Eden. Seven

During an interview with TV Week, Rowland admitted that while they’ve been through so much already, “he knows she needs to do this for herself, regardless of whether he can go or not.”

Eden calls for Remi to pick her up

Torn, Remi feels he must talk to his friend Eden, who coincidentally calls him asking him to pick her up…on his motorbike. DUN DUN DUUUUN!

“I am done. Come pick me up. Now,” Eden tells him.

Meanwhile, Cash overhears the conversation and is, in no uncertain terms, pissed.

Heading to his friend’s aid — and with his own motivation to get clarity on the situation — Remi heads off on said bike, where he’s struck by a car.

The two unknown men behind the wheel have been distracted due to a fight, colliding with Remi before and the collision throws Remi off the bike, leaving him motionless on the ground.

What has Adam Rowland said?

So, does Remi live or die?

“After a collision like that, it would seem entirely likely no one would survive!” Rowland said during the same interview.

Well, R.I.P Remi…we think!

Watch the Home and Away triple episode finale on November 29 at 7.00 pm on 7 and 7Plus.

Here’s what they cooked…

Course One

Reynold

“Floral” – Feijoa, Jasmine and Elderflower

Mel “loved the visual” and the difference in colour invites you to “dig and investigate” the dish, meanwhile Amaury said it was “a bit cold” for him given all the elements was frozen.

“This is not his best,” he said.

Gareth

Rhubarb Tart with Pepperberry Ice Cream

Amaury said the presentation was “very bistro style” but admitted it was his “type of dessert”. Mel said the cream on top was “luscious” and called it “smart and considered” cooking.

Jess

“Not so strawberries and cream” – Coconut sorbet, strawberry and Balsamic Chiboust

Mel said there was a “little bit of haste” in the presentation but it smelled incredible and when it came to tasting, Amaury’s dish was missing the balsamic chiboust filling.

Overall, Mel liked the insert because it had a “sweet and sour freshness” while Amaury wished his was complete so he could have the same experience as Mel.

Wattleseed and Chocolate Mousse with Pistachio, Apricot and Armagnac

“Pink Petal” – Berries, blackcurrant and tea sorbet

Amaury thought it was very good, saying the jam had “life”; however, the texture of the sorbet was too grainy.

Mel thought the mousse was delicious and thought the petals were perfect, even though there were only 20.

Mel said there was “a lot to love” about the dessert but was looking for more of a gel-like texture, rather than a jube. Amaury was a lot less forgiving, saying it was “another frozen dessert”.

Reynold, Jess and Gareth’s journey to the Dessert Masters 2023 Grand Final

Ten of the best pastry chefs in the country have been whittled down to just three on Dessert Masters 2023. The Grand Finalists are Reynold Poernomo, Jess Liemantara and Gareth Whitton, who will battle it out for the winning crown.

Unlike its sister show MasterChef, the contestants on Dessert Masters aren’t home cooks but instead established chefs.

Ahead of the Dessert Masters 2023 Grand Final, find out a bit more about each chef’s background.

Jess Liemantara

Dessert Masters. Ten.

Jess was a contestant on seasons 10 and 12 of MasterChef Australia and came fourth and twelfth respectively.

Since being on the cooking show she’s racked up a huge social media following, where she’s known as ‘Jess Lemon’. She has over 240,000 followers on Instagram, who she shares photos and videos of her stunning dessert creations with.

Post-MasterChef, Jess Liemantara opened two establishments; a dessert shop named Esme and a Roti shop called Roarti. However, both are currently temporarily closed.

Jess received rave reviews in episode six from the judges for her Birds Nest creation.

Reynold Poernomo

Dessert Masters. Ten.

Like Jess, Reynold is also a MasterChef Australia alum; he was on seasons seven and twelve, and came fourth and third, respectively. Reynold was born in Surabaya, Indonesia, but moved to Sydney when he was four.

Out of the entire Dessert Master’s cast, Reynold is one of the most established when it comes to restaurants. He and his brothers Ronald and Arnold Poernomo founded KOI Dessert Bar and have since opened KOI Experimental. They also own a small bar called Monkey’s Corner which sits in Sydney’s Chippendale and is a small restaurant/bar that focuses on Japanese-inspired dishes and serves quirky cocktails.

Reynold won the only immunity pin of the season back in episode one for his Monochrome dessert.

Gareth Whitton

Dessert Masters. Ten.

Gareth Whitton is one of the country’s most experienced and established chefs. He has worked at a 3 Michelin star restaurant and under one of the world’s most impressive chefs, Heston Blumenthal.

He owns Tarts Anon, which was launched amid Melbourne’s Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. Word got out about his amazing home-cooked tarts, and they were quickly snapped up as soon as they were out of the oven. From there, Gareth went on to open Tarts Anon’s flagship location in Cremorne, Victoria with partner Catherine Way.

Though Gareth hasn’t been a MasterChef contestant, he has been on the show before. He set a Pressure Test during Season 14 – which tasked the contestants with recreating his Smoked Pecan and Butterscotch Tart.

In episode six of Dessert Masters, Gareth was the runner-up to Kirsten Tiballs for his Black Forrest Tart and just missed out on immunity.

Dessert Masters 2023 Grand Finale airs at 7.30 pm on November 28 on 10 and 10Play.

Interview: The one advantage Jess and Reynold have in the Dessert Masters Kitchen

The Chocolate Queen Kirsten Tibballs was eliminated from Dessert Masters, leaving Jess Liemantara, Reynold Poernomo and Gareth Whitton to battle it out in the Grand Final.

During a post-elimination interview with Chattr, Kirsten reflected on her weaknesses in the cooking competition and said that those same qualities gave Jess and Reynold an advantage.

“Reynold and Jess being very familiar with the way MasterChef runs and the kitchen and the facilities, that is a big advantage,” she said.

Reynold competed on seasons 7 and 12 of MasterChef Australia, while Jess was part of seasons 10 and 12.

Kristen Tibballs
Dessert Masters. Ten.

Jess and Reynold’s other advantages going into the Dessert Masters final

Kirsten explained that she wasn’t used to the time restraints of completing a dish on MasterChef or Dessert Masters, and believed this worked as a disadvantage for her.

“I’m very much about technique, precision, and not cutting corners. But I think there are certain times in the kitchen where you have to say to yourself, ‘I’m going to have to let go of the fact that I need to check the bricks of the sorbet base with a refractometer before I can share because I simply don’t have the time’. I believe that Jess and Reynold would have had an understanding of that.”

Kirsten added that another advantage she thinks Jess and Reynold have is their young age.

“They were a lot younger than me,” she said. “They’ve probably got a lot more energy than me, be faster, and maybe have better memory going to the pantry.”

“I’m not a spring chicken anymore. On one recipe I use 72 ingredients, so to not only try and carry that from the pantry but to try to remember it! I lost seven kilos during the filming and a portion of that was due to running back and forth,” she laughed.

On her disappointment about her bird cage crumbling

In the final five challenge, Kirsten built a beautiful birdcage made out of chocolate. However, in the final moments as she went to serve it up, the entire thing crumbled, which ultimately led to her elimination.

Looking back at the moment, Kristen described it as “pure devastation.”

“As soon as it smashed, I knew with the time left there was physically nothing I could do,” she recalled. “It was the devastation that when you get into the semifinals, and I was comfortable with the way I was going throughout the cook, you start to think about the Finale. So there was that as well, that I wouldn’t have the opportunity to compete in the finale coming this far that had ended.”

Dessert Masters 2023 Grand Finale airs at 7.30 pm on November 28 on 10 and 10Play.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster

Artful Dodger. Disney+.

If you’re not already familiar with Thomas Brodie-Sangster, then he probably looks familiar – and for good reason. Has the winner of Dessert Masters already leaked ahead of tonight’s Grand Final?

Some of the best cooks in the country are battling it out for the winning title on Dessert Masters 2023, but who will reign victorious?

Well, betting odds on Sportsbet are suggesting that one of the remaining contestants will win by a landslide. Owner of Tarts Anon Gareth Whitton has a return of just $1.72 to take out the win.

Koi Dessert Bar owner and social media sensation Reynold Poernomo is expected to take second place with a return of $2.00, Jess Liemantara is a long way behind with a return of $8.50.

Kirsten Tibballs
Dessert Masters. Ten.

How do betting odds work?

Betting odds are based on dollar value. If someone bets $1, they’d receive back the amount the contestant was listed at. For example, if a punter bets $1 on Gareth they’d receive a $1.72 return if she won. This corresponds with the amount deposited, so $10 would turn into $17.20, $100 would turn into $172, and so on.

Dessert Masters. Ten.

Do betting odds correctly guess the winner?

No, not necessarily. Insider trading is strictly prohibited however, betting odds can often be a good indicator of who will win a show.

Most recently, betting odds suggested that Steph and Gian would win The Block 2023, which they well and truly did, with a profit of $1.65 million, plus $100,000 in prize money.

Similarly, Brent Draper had the best odds to win MasterChef Australia 2023, and he was, in fact, crowned the winner. Plus, last year’s betting odds indicated that Reggie Bird would win Big Brother Back To The Future, which she did.

Watch Dessert Masters Sunday – Tuesday night on 10 and 10Play.

Dessert Masters 2023 Recap Episode 9: A shock elimination saw two powerhouse chefs sent home

It’s episode nine of Dessert Masters 2023 a.k.a the Semi-Final and a nature-inspired challenge saw two powerhouse chefs “leaf” the competition!

Upon entering the kitchen, the contestants were surrounded by a mesmerising forest scene.

With only three hours on the clock, they were tasked with creating a delectable sweet dish that drew inspiration from the natural beauty around them.

A lot was at stake given the challenge would determine the three grand finalists who would advance further in the competition and with such talented chefs left, it was anyone’s game.

Here’s what they baked.

The Creations

Reynold Poernomo

Reynold made the daring decision to craft a chocolate log amidst a lush rainforest; however, his challenge lay in harmonising the aromas he was experimenting with.

Undeterred by prior setbacks, he fearlessly reimagined the sugar tuille from the Martin Benn pressure test, which had led to his departure from the semi-final in MasterChef season 12.

During the tasting, Amaury Guichon acknowledged that Reynold successfully met the criteria in terms of both appearance and taste with Mel Leong saying that this could very well be his first Grand Finale of his MC career.

Reynold’s dessert. Ten

Jess Liemantara

Jess’s creation was an intricately crafted bonsai tree, adorned with flavours that evoked the essence of Japan: matcha, yuzu, and black sesame.

The judges commended the delicately airy sponge, accentuated by the interplay of textures from the black sesame and yuzu mousse.

Jess’ dessert. Ten

Gareth Whitton

Gareth took a bold approach when he crafted a riverbed scene adorned with stones, twigs, and soil.

He merged the distinct flavours of truffle and Jerusalem artichoke and although Amaury wasn’t entirely convinced by the combination, Gareth believed that the sweeter elements would counterbalance the earthiness.

Amaury loved the presentation; however, he, along with Mel, expressed concerns about its savoriness, putting Gareth at risk of elimination.

Gareth’s dish. Ten

Kay-Lene Tan

Kay-Lene crafted a dish inspired by the evocative imagery of the changing seasons, incorporating the concept of melting white snow.

However, upon tasting it, Amaury found that while visually stunning, it looked at tasted dry.

Kay-Lene’s dessert, Ten

Kirsten Tibballs

Kirsten embarked on her most ambitious culinary creation yet – a decadent chocolate and passionfruit entremet encased within an intricate chocolate birdcage sculpture.

With only 30 seconds remaining, she carefully positioned her masterpiece onto the plate, only to have it collide with the edge of the bench, collapsing in front of everyone’s eyes.

As the judges tasted the entremet, they praised the flawless glaze and impeccably layered presentation.

While the flavours were balanced, and given the demanding three-hour challenge, the absence of the birdcage meant she had not met the brief.

The Result

Kay-Lene and Kirsten were eliminated at the final hurdle, leaving Reynold, Jess and Gareth to battle it out during the Grand Finale.

Everything you need to know about RnB star Emalia who plays Izzy James in Paper Dolls

Emalia plays the character of Izzy James in the new Paramount+ drama Paper Dolls and the Aussie actress and artist is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down.

Having already made her mark on the music industry, Emalia is now tackling the acting world, and the new role is likely to catapult her into a household name.

The 26-year-old goes purely by her first name and made the move from her hometown of Bowral NSW, to Sydney to focus on her career.

Her part in the upcoming drama is tipped to make her a breakout star. She plays one of five young women who form a female musical group through a reality TV show. The series follows the women’s lives and touches on the dark side of fame.

Paper Dolls. Paramount+.

What did Emalia do before Paper Dolls?

While Paper Dolls is Emalia’s first mainstream acting gig, she’s been involved in the entertainment scene for a while.

Back in 2020, Emalia released a song titled ‘Suga Rush’ which was released via Sony Music Entertainment Australia and produced by the ARIA award-winning One Above.

Suga Rush is about a toxic love you just keep coming back to. It’s sexy, it’s addictive, it’s affecting you in all the wrong ways just as much as it is the right ways; it’s the epitome of dangerous temptation,” Emalia told The Local Frequency at the time.

Emalia has just released a new single called Stacks

Coinciding with the promo for Paper Dolls, Emalia has dropped a brand new single called Stacks. It’s her first independent release since parting ways from her label in 2021.

The musician lists Kehlani, Summer Walker, SZA Kiana Lede, Mahalia, Snoh Aalegra and Tinashe among her musical influences.

Emalia cried when she read the script of Paper Dolls

As soon as Emalia got her hands on the script of the Aussie drama, she knew that she wanted to play the part of Izzy.

“I just knew I had to be a part of it,” she told the Daily Telegraph.

She explained that the script resonated with her because of her experience in the music industry, and offered some advice for other people looking to follow in her footsteps.

“Make sure you are passionate about it, that it is what you really want to do, develop a thick skin. A good piece of advice I received was to subject yourself to rejection and failure and come out the other side because the more you go through it, the stronger you become,” she said.

“And make sure you have people around you that you know you can trust because there are a lot of sharks in this industry and it can be very tumultuous so having a strong support network is important.”

Paper Dolls airs on Paramount+ Australia from Sunday, 3 December.
