Love Island Bombshell alert: Meet Miss Universe Australia finalist Mia Dalkos

Mia Dalkos is the latest Bombshell to be launched into the villa, and her arrival may just answer all of Niko Fotopoulo’s Love Island Australia 2024 prayers.

Mia is 23 years old and from Adelaide. She works in fashion and runs her own clothing hire company, Mia’s Hire Boutique.

During Mia’s intro video, which aired on November 20, the newest Love Island bomb said she is a “Greek goddess” looking for her “Greek god.”

Considering Islander Niko—who is of Greek heritage and boasts abs that look like they’re craved out of stone—was recently dumped by Hannah Steinfield, we may have a new match made in heaven.

Here’s everything we know about Love Island Australia’s Mia.

Love Island’s Mia Dalkos was a Miss Universe Australia finalist

Mia represented South Australia as a Miss Universe Australia finalist in 2023. She was one of 23 women in the running to be crowned. Unfortunately for Mia, former International athlete Moraya Wilson took the title last year.

During an interview with GC Magazine, Mia told the publication that she entered the competition in the hope of inspiring other women.

“My key motivation for entering Miss Universe Australia was to challenge myself, develop in self-growth and step out of my comfort zone. I felt if I could achieve this, I could inspire like-minded women to achieve their goals and follow their dreams,” she said.

“The mere experience of being involved and associated with MUA’s platform is an incredible opportunity and would enable me to use my voice to motivate and inspire women to never give up and chase what truly fulfils their purpose and makes them happy.”

Where is Love Island Australia 2024’s Mia Dalkos from?

Mia mentioned in her intro video that she is from Greece, and the Love Island bomb takes great pride in her European heritage.

According to Greek City Times, Mia was named after her maternal grandmother, Efthimia, and the name is derived from the Greek word “efthimia”. However, the business owner started going by the name Mia in primary school because it was easier to pronounce.

“I value the Greek culture, as growing up in a big family, my sister and I were taught the importance and significance of the Greek traditions, religion, and language,” she told the publication.

“I especially admire the tradition of naming one’s child after the grandparent because the name will be passed down from generation to generation.

“I hope that one day in the future I will be fortunate to have grandchildren, perhaps named after me too, which I know will hold a dear place in my heart, reminding me of my Yiayia and own childhood.”

Grab the popcorn, Hannah is not going to take Mia’s entrance well.

Love Island Australian streams from Monday – Thursday on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Meet John Demetrios, Dessert Masters’ savant of “sexy” desserts

With the Dessert Masters 2024 finale just around the corner, fans are on the edge of their seats as their favourite chefs make their way closer to sweet, sweet victory.

One contender marked as one to watch from the beginning is the modest John Demetrios, aka “Sugar John,” celebrated for creating some of the “sexiest” desserts to ever grace the show’s kitchen.

Let’s learn more about his journey and what he’s been bringing to the competition.

What’s John Demetrios’ baking background?

John grew up in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, starting his culinary career in a local bakery. From these humble beginnings, his career quickly took off.

He completed a four-year baking apprenticeship in just two years and, at 19, headed to London to begin classical training. There, he rose to lead the pastry kitchen for three-Michelin-star chef Pierre Koffmann at Koffmann’s in Knightsbridge.

Returning to Melbourne, John helmed the pastry team at Circa the Prince before becoming Head Pastry Chef at the iconic Vue de Monde.

But his international adventures weren’t over. John sharpened his skills across Scandinavia, working in Norway and Denmark before settling in Sweden as Head Pastry Chef at two-Michelin-starred Oaxen Krog under chef Magnus Ek.

In 2017, John returned to Australia to take on the role of Executive Pastry Chef for the entire Vue de Monde group.

Most recently, he’s been serving as Executive Pastry Chef at LK Hospitality, overseeing renowned venues like Omnia and Yugen.

John’s standout moments on Dessert Masters

John has been a consistent showstopper this season, wowing judges with his fine-art-on-a-plate creations. One of his most memorable dishes came during Episode 7’s elimination challenge, where contestants showcased four of Judge Amaury Guichon’s signature techniques.

John’s Alter Ego dessert was a masterpiece: a hazelnut base layered with dense brown butter and caramel ganache, a sponge cake flavoured with hazelnut and cognac, and passionfruit curd with blood orange juice. Topping it all was a stunning chocolate carnation.

Armoury described it as “perfectly thought out and executed,” while co-judge Melissa Leong praised John’s work as “masterful.”

And who could forget his recent take on Snow White, which earned him the nickname “Sugar John”? An exquisite trio of decadent desserts inspired by the food in the fairy tale – pumpkin soup, gooseberry pie, and, of course, a blown sugar “poison” apple.

Each element also reflected his experience in Melbourne, Sweden, the UK, and the Netherlands. Talk about a feat!

Will John win Dessert Masters 2024?

With his charming humility and undeniable talent for crafting extraordinary desserts, John is a Dessert Masters fan favourite. No doubt, many would love to see him crowned champion.

With the countdown to the finale officially on, it won’t be long until we see if John can take home the Dessert Masters’ crown!

Anatomy of Lies: The true story behind Grey’s Anatomy cancer scammer Elisabeth Finch

Three-part docuseries Anatomy of Lies exposes Grey’s Anatomy writer Elisabeth Finch, who sent shockwaves through Hollywood when her carefully constructed web of lies unravelled.

For years, Elisabeth fooled Hollywood with tales so harrowing they seemed impossible to question. But the mask was ripped off in a tell-all feature published in Vanity Fair in 2022.

Now, the story behind her journey of deceit will be explored even deeper in Anatomy of Lies, a gripping docuseries that offers viewers an inside look at the lies, manipulation, and betrayal that fueled her rise to fame.

When will Anatomy of Lies be released?

The series will premiere on November 29 at 9:30pm on 7Bravo and 7Plus.

What is the scandal involving Elisabeth Finch?

Elisabeth, who also worked on The Vampire Diaries and True Blood, gained prominence with her powerful storytelling on Grey’s Anatomy

However, her success was built on one of the most audacious fabrications in Hollywood history: a fake cancer diagnosis that not only landed her a writing job on the hit show but also earned her the sympathy and admiration of colleagues who believed her to be a tragic, heroic figure.

Finch’s writing, they thought, was informed by her own personal battles, her supposed suffering translating into genius.

But behind the scenes, Elisabeth’s most egregious lies were reserved for those closest to her.

How did Elisabeth Finch get exposed?

One of her greatest victims was her estranged wife, Jennifer Beyer, who trusted Finch with her deepest secrets.

Beyer would ultimately be the one to expose the truth, tipping off Grey’s Anatomy producer Shonda Rhimes about the writer’s shocking deception.

Now, as Beyer steps forward to unravel the web of lies that ensnared Hollywood, she faces the daunting task of reclaiming the narrative from a master manipulator.

Who’s behind Anatomy of Lies?

The series features insights from those closest to Finch, many speaking for the first time.

Directed and executive produced by Evgenia Peretz and David Schisgall, Anatomy of Lies is produced by Vanity Fair Studios in collaboration with Dorothy St. Pictures, with Helen Estabrook, Sarah Amos, Claire Howorth, Vicki Cooper, Melanie Archer, and Julia Nottingham serving as producers.

Anatomy of Lies premiers at 9.30pm Friday, 29 November on 7Bravo and plus.

Simone found out he was expecting a baby while filming MKR 2024

Viewers were left with a wholesome ending to My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2024, with winner Simone — who was teamed up with Viviana — revealing that he and his partner were expecting a baby during the grand finale.

It turns out Simone’s girlfriend Victoria discovered that she was pregnant while Simone was filming MKR.

During an exclusive interview with Chattr, Simone revealed that “being far away from home while my partner was pregnant” was what he struggled with the most.

“We found out [that Victoria was pregnant] why we were on the show,” he explained, adding that they had a few chances to see each other during filming.

“We came back a few times to cook at home, and she joined me a couple of times around Australia just to see each other. But, it was very challenging, and it was really tough.”

Simone told Chattr that he and Victoria have decided to call their son Romeo, and revealed that he’ll be born in the new year.

“Romeo will be due in January,” he revealed. “We were hoping for [the pregnancy], and it was like a dream come true.”

So will Simone teach Romeo to be a whiz in the kitchen like his dad?

“Well, he’s going to have some Italian blood inside him, so I feel like he will come naturally for him,” the MKR champ laughed.

What will Simone do with his prize money?

Simone and Viviana won $100,000 in prize money for winning MKR 2024, and they will split the cash between them.

Simone told Chattr that he’d put most of his money towards helping his family.

“I will use it towards my son Romeo; that will be a big, big help.I will also use it towards my dad’s visa; I’m trying to bring him to Australia,” he shared.

“He lives in Italy. His dream was always to come and join me when I was settling in Australia.”

Simone shared that his dad was “over the moon” about Simone’s win and “couldn’t be more proud”.

Aww, we love a happy ending!

Everything you need to know about MKR winner Simone’s restaurants

Simone and Viviana were this year’s My Kitchen Rules 2024 (MKR) winners, but did you know that Simone owns two restaurants?

Cooking has always been Simone’s passion. Speaking to Channel 7, he said he learnt how to cook from his father.

“I learned to cook in my dad’s pizzeria when I was younger, cultivating a passion for food from a young age,” he said.

Simone owns two restaurants in Brisbane, an Italian takeaway joint called Scugnizzi Italian Street Food and bakery and restaurant, Doughcraft.

Here is everything you need to know about MKR winner Simone’s restaurants.

What you need to know about Scugnizzi Italian Street Food

Scugnizzi Italian Street Food opened in 2023 and serves pizza, pasta and other Italian goodies to people in Brisbane’s CBD.

Speaking to The Weekend Edition, Simone said he saw a lack in Italian fast food places where you could grab a slice of pizza and go.

“At the moment Brisbane is saturated with so many amazing Italian restaurants where you can sit down and enjoy a Neapolitan-style pizza, but there is nowhere you can go and grab a slice of pizza in teglio (Roman-style pizza in tray) to go,” he told the publication.

What can you order at Scugnizzi Italian Street Food?

Scugnizzi offers pizza by the slice or whole, pasta like carbonara and bolognese, burrata bowls, arancini and Italian desserts like tiramisu and Napoli babà. Yum!

What does Scugnizzi mean?

Scugnizzi is an Italian word from the Neapolitan dialect meaning larrikins that hang on the streets, according to The Weekend Edition.

What do people say about Scugnizzi Italian Street Food?

Diners have nothing but glowing reviews for the Italian fast food place.

“Amazing amazing amazing. Absolute BEST pasta I have ever had. I have never been a pasta fan like my wife and daughter, but finishing my Ravioli, I slurped up what remained of theirs.
And the experience, next level,” one reviewer wrote on Google.

Another reviewer glowed about the gluten-free options and the friendly staff!

“I just had the most delicious gluten free pasta here. They were able to make my meal separately to limit cross contamination. The staff were just so lovely, kind and helpful. The meal sizes were perfect in my opinion and the flavor of the pasta was deliciously balanced. I think I am going to be dreaming about this pasta and making special trips just to have some. Thank you so much for my delicious meal,” they wrote.

Do I need to book a table at Scugnizzi Italian Street Food?

No, you don’t just walk in and order your food. But, because it is takeaway there is limited seating at the restaurant.

Image: Scugnizzi Italian Street Food

Where is Scugnizzi Italian Street Food?

If you live in Brisbane or are visiting you can find the restaurant at Shop 2/168 Adelaide Street, Brisbane City.

It’s open Monday to Saturday, 11am – 8pm.

You can find them on Instagram at @scugnizzi.au.

What you need to know about Doughcraft

Simone’s second restaurant, Doughcraft is a fusion French and Italian bakery and restaurant located in Brisbane.

This began as a bakery in the northern Brisbane suburb of Albion and since then the team moved and opened a bigger restaurant in Brisbane’s CBD earlier this year.

Doughcraft serves lunch and dinner, and you can pop in and grab a delicious pastry in the morning.

What can you order at Doughcraft?

Simone’s restaurant Doughcraft is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you could eat at the restaurant all day if you wanted!

They have some very intriguing bakery options like a savoury prawn and ricotta cannoli (see above), pistachio tortino, croissants with coconut almond cream and a crownie, which is a croissant tart with a pecan brownie on the inside. Our mouths are watering!

You can also grab some delicious Italian paninis that are made from scratch. In fact, all their pastries are made in-house!

For dinner, Doughcraft has a thoughtful, curated menu where diners can order appetisers such as baby octopus, bruschetta, burrata and scallops.

For mains, you can treat yourself to kinds of pasta such as carbonara, ravioli and pumpkin gnocchi; and pizzas such as Margherita, seafood and mushroom pizza. There are also some main options like fish and steak if that tickles your fancy.

What do people say about Doughcraft?

Diners who have eaten at Doughcraft have nothing but lovely things to say about Simone’s restaurant.

“Recently dined at DoughCraft with my family, and it was an unforgettable experience! The atmosphere was warm and the menu was fantastic. The service was great. For the price, quality was excellent and portions. Doughcraft in Brisbane CBD has stepped up,” one reviewer said on Google.

Another diner raved about the staff and vibe.

“My husband and I enjoyed breakfast here yesterday. Loved the atmosphere, staff were all delightful. We couldn’t decide between sweet delights or savoury, so ordered one of each and shared. Highly recommend,” the reviewer said.

Where is Doughcraft?

Doughcraft is located at 181 Mary Street, Brisbane City.

It’s opening hours are, Monday to Friday 7am-2pm and Tuesday to Saturday 5pm – 10pm.

If you’re in Brisbane or thinking of taking a trip to the city, why don’t you try one of Simone’s restaurants?

“It was fantastic”: How Simone and Viviana celebrated their MKR 2024 win

Simone and Viviana won My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2024, and have spilled how they spent their evening celebrating their well deserved win.

Speaking to Chattr during an exclusive post-win interview they said they were joined by some of their former cast mates to celebrate.

Simone and Viviana revealed that they found out that they’d won the season along with Australia because, like most reality TV shows, two alternate endings were filmed—one showing them being crowned the winners and another showing Gatecrashers Caz and Fergus receiving the most points.

The choice to keep the winner secret until the air date minimises the chance of the result being leaked.

“It was breathtaking,” Viviana shared. “We didn’t know until last night, and it was easily one of the happiest moments of my life.

“All of the hard work paid off, and to win this with my best friend, I could have never, never asked for something better than this,” she added.

Simone and Viviana nervously watched the episode alongside their loved ones, as well as some of the MKR cast.

“We had a watch party at Simone’s restaurant, Doughcraft, and we invited all of our friends. Most of the other teams were there: Rob and LiamAsh and CassieHannah and Lawrence, Danny and Sonia. They all flew over to watch the grand final with us; it was fantastic!” Viviana explained.

The Italian besties added that they partied “very hard” after learning that they’d won the season.

MKR 2024’s Simone and Viviana’s advice for dealing with hangovers

It’s well known that some chefs have secret strategies for dealing with hangovers, and that knowledge undoubtedly came in handy for Simone and Viviana, who were signed up for a day of media appearances following their victory.

“Right now, I’m sitting on my bed with a Big Mac, with a large fries and a Coke with no sugar, I think that’s the best hangover cure,” Simone laughed.

“Fatty food is the best, I’ve got my Uber Eats on the way,” Viviana added.

While the pair may now be MKR champions, they’re just like us normies when it comes to dealing with hangovers.

Some fans were so impressed by Simone and Viviana that they’re already wanting to seem them on their screens!

Not only were social media users were jumping for joy for Simone and Viviana who won $100,000 for taking the crown home during the MKR finale, some wanted the runners up Caz and Fergus to also get some form of prize.

“Runner ups should also be given a prize,” one user commented.

Another user replied noting some brands should help sponsor the prizes.

“Agree, extremely disappointed they received NOTHING, SURELY A SPONSOR LIKE @lurpakuk would contribute or @mykitchenrules Congratulations Italians very well deserved wonderful techniques. Best season ever,” they said.

MKR fans still rallied behind the runners up.

“Caz and Fergus congratulations on all you achieved as well. You also won the hearts of Australia. Really wish these shows had a second prize because you deserve it,” an Instagram user commented.

Who left My Kitchen Rules 2024?

The My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2024 grand finale played out on November 19, and fan-favourite Simone and Viviana were crowned the winners.

The Italian besties battled against Caz and Fergus during a heated competition in the kitchen.

Looking back on the season, MKR 2024 started with round one of the Instant Restaurants, which saw every team prepare a three-course meal in their own Instant Kitchens for MKR judges Manu Fiedel and Colin Fassnidge.

After each dining experience, the judges and the MKR contestants scored the meals, which decided their place on the MKR leaderboard.

A new MKR twist saw the two teams who had the lowest scores at the end of round one sent home. The remaining teams headed around the nation once again for round two and were joined by a few new teams called the gate crashers.

Round two saw another team eliminated before the remaining cast members moved on to Kitchen HQ, where another team was sent packing.

After that, the remaining contestants took part in the Ultimate Instant Restaurant round, and the team that got the lowest score was eliminated.

For the first semi-final, two teams battled it out to see who would make it into this year’s grand final. For the second semi-final, it was a battle of the Italians.

Find out who has left MKR and who is heading to the grand finale!

Caz and Fergus

Caz and Fergus are MKR gatecrashers.

Caz and Fergus were crowned the runners-up of MKR 2024 after losing out to Simone and Viviana in the MKR grand final.

It was a close finale, with the mother-son duo scoring 25 out of 30, compared to the Italian mate’s score of 27 out of 30.

Mike and Pete

The second round of the semi-finals came and went, with Mike and Pete sadly leaving the competition. It was a showdown between the traditional Italians and modern Italians; Mike and Pete were up against Simone and Viviana.

For their final dishes, Mike and Pete made Salmon Tartare, Crumbed scotch fillets and a ruby chocolate tart.

“We’ve enjoyed every moment. It’s been a wild, wild ride,” they said.

Janey and Maddie

Janey and Maddie are MKR gatecrashers.
Janey and Maddie are MKR gatecrashers.

This year’s MKR gatecrashers have been eliminated in the season’s first semi final episode. Janey and Maddie, the mum and daughter duo who were ranked last were unfortunately left the competition.

It was a matriarchal match off between Janey and Maddie and mum and son pairing Caz and Fergus. Sadly, Janey and Maddie lost to the current MKR leaders.

Rob and Liam

Despite winning the first round of MKR Instant Restaurants and the first Kitchen HQ challenge, the dishes that Rob and Liam’s created during the Ultimate Instant Restaurant round scored the lowest on the MKR leaderboard.

That meant that they were eliminated from the competition during the episode that aired on November 11.

Hannah and Lawrence

Hannah and Larence were the third team eliminated from MKR, and the first team was sent home from Kitchen HQ.

After scoring one of the lowest in the first challenge, they faced off against Simone and Viviana and Mike and Pete in the elimination cook, and were deemed to have the least impressive dish.

Robert and Andrea

Robert and Andrea were eliminated at the end of round two of the Instant Restaurants. The German couple failed to impress the judges with their traditional meals.

Colin told them that their main Fleischkaese Bratwurst with Potato Salad and Red Cabbage was a “fail”. The couple received a total score of 46/110 for their efforts.

Danny and Sonia

After Manu informed the contestants that the bottom two teams would be sent home, he told Danny and Sonia, who were at the bottom of the leaderboard, that they’d been eliminated because only Mike and Pete’s scores had yet to be revealed.

“Danny and Sonia, as the lowest-scoring team, you cannot be saved; you are eliminated from the competition,” Colin told them.

“You’re on the bottom, so it doesn’t matter if you’re at the bottom or second bottom. We got no saving grace; we’re done,” Danny said.

“At the end of the day, every journey’s gotta end, but it’s not going to stop me from cooking,” he added.

Ash and Cassie

Ash and Cassie.

Manu and Colin revealed that Mike and Pete’s overall score was 72, which meant that Ash and Cassie had the second-lowest score on the leaderboard, at 60 points, and they were sent home.

“Thanks so much for having us; it’s been an awesome experience getting to know you all,” Cassie said.

“We are so incredibly proud of ourselves; we’ve given it a red hot crack, and we’ve done our absolute best,” Ash added.

Who will be eliminated next on MKR? At this stage, it’s anyone’s guess!

While an insider has told Yahoo Lifestyle that the upcoming season is looking to focus on Channel Seven talent, which could mean no stars from rival networks such as Masterchef Australia, I’m a Celebrity, or Australian Survivor on Network 10, or The Block on Channel Nine.

Meet Christy Tania, Dessert Masters’ “daredevil of desserts”

As the finals of Dessert Masters 2024 draw tantalisingly closer, fans rally behind their favourite chefs as they tackle some of the most challenging bakes yet.

One standout competitor is Christy Tania, the show’s “daredevil of desserts”, who you can always expect to deliver the unexpected.

Let’s learn more about her journey and what she’s cooking up in the competition.

What’s Christy Tania’s baking background?

Born in Indonesia, Christy graduated from Business School in Singapore before becoming IBM’s youngest female Project Manager. But when her cake-making side hustle took off, Christy decided to leave corporate life behind and pursue her passion full-time.

Her culinary journey led her to France, where she trained at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure de Pâtisserie. While in France, she worked alongside three Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse at the Ritz Hotel in Paris.

Christy said adieu to France when she moved to Melbourne to join her partner. In 2013, she became head chef at the Adelphi Hotel’s dessert fine diner, Om Nom, which boasts a coveted Chef’s Hat.

Three years later, she stepped into the role of Executive Pastry Chef at the Langham Hotel before launching her own business, Glacé Dessert Artisanal, in 2017. Glacé is known for pairing classic French techniques with modern culinary trends.

When she’s not dazzling on Dessert Masters, Christy is busy rebranding Glacé and penning her first cookbook, IMAGINE.

Christy’s Standout Moments on Dessert Masters

Christy’s bold, whimsical creations have made her a standout this season – after all, she describes herself as a “curious dessert creative.” Among her most memorable bakes? Adventure Around the World in 3 Desserts, a sweet homage to her life in Indonesia, France, and Australia.

Her ultimate showstopper, however, was her All Eyes on Me creation for the Circus Immunity Challenge. The gravity-defying dessert featured a Black Forest cake balanced on two chocolate spheres, complete with fairy lights. Britney would absolutely approve – and so did judges Melissa Leong and Amaury Guichon, with Amaury calling it a “masterpiece.”

Will Christy Win Dessert Masters 2024?

With her inspiring journey and boundless creativity, Christy has become a fan favourite and a serious contender for the Dessert Masters crown.

As the finals approach, all eyes are on whether she’ll take home the title and add Dessert Masters Champion to her impressive résumé.

Where to find Christy on social media

Reece Hignell reveals his sweetest takeaway from Dessert Masters 2024

We’re getting to the pointy end of the Dessert Masters competition now, and in the semi-final of the season, we had yet another double elimination which saw both Reece Hignell and Jana Lai sent packing.

Chattr spoke with Reece off the back of his tremendous journey to the final stages of the competition, where he shared insights into his Dessert Masters experience, as well as who he thinks will win in 2024!

Reece Hignell and the Dessert Masters journey

When asked about how it has felt to look back at the Dessert Masters journey as a whole, Reece shared, “It’s been really fun, actually. I’ve absolutely loved it.”

While he did feel that the semi-final was his time to head home from the Dessert Masters kitchen, “All in all, I was really proud of what I’d done [throughout] the entire journey,” he told Chattr.

“When I was able to kind of reflect on that and be really happy about what I’ve done, it made the whole ending a bit easier as well, like, in my mind. So, then I could celebrate my three friends who made it to the final rather than being upset.”

Reece continued, explaining that reality cooking shows like Dessert Masters all “have their ups and downs”, but the secret sauce lies in living “on the highs”.

“If you’re going to really be weighed down and defined by your lowest point, then you’re probably taking the opportunity a little bit incorrectly, in my mind,” he said.

“I just live by the highs. You know? I may be a bit delusional, but I just live on the highs!”

And he certainly did experience many highs on the show.

Looking back to the beginning of the Dessert Masters competition, Reece shared that his dessert trolley – the first thing he cooked – was a real point of pride for him.

“It’s something that I do back home in Newcastle; we have a dessert trolley at the QT hotel. It’s just so much fun that I was able to bring that onto the TV and to show people, one: classic cakes are cool. But, two: I can do a lot in a little bit of time, you know? Like, a whole trolley worth of cake, and I love that,” he shared.

While three hours may have felt like a blink to some bakers, for Reece, it was “fabulous, to be honest”.

“I’m coming from MasterChef, where you get one hour! “When they said three hours, I’m like, ‘I’m doing a whole trolley!'”

What did the experience teach Reece?

For some, the experience of stepping into a cooking competition show is a rather stressful one, but Reece shared that, for him, it was an absolute joy.

“Think about your favourite hobby; whatever you love doing the most at home, and that’s cooking for us. And then you’re just given free rein of like, a Willy Wonka factory, and you get to do whatever you want. It’s just so much fun. I miss it so much,” he said.

What the journey taught him, Reece shared, is that the path he is following is the right one for him. And it proved that classic desserts deserve praise and respect, too.

“What it did was it told me what I’m doing is the right thing,” he said.

“I think the fact that I was making my Nan’s sponge cake, and it’s deemed as worthy as, like, Emelia’s choux pastry, or John’s most modern desserts, you know, it’s really showing to me that what I make is at a calibre which is difficult to achieve.”

He continued, explaining that he feels “honoured” to be able to showcase his food on a platform like Dessert Masters.

“There’s a reason why they’re called classics,” he said,

“It’s because they’re not the modern, they’re not the popular, they’re not the mainstream. And my fear is that these cakes will go missing, like they will stop getting made. So, yeah. I’m excited that these cakes can live on and I can keep making them, and I hope that I brought them a little bit more notoriety.”

Who will win the Dessert Masters competition this year?

Speaking of notoriety, who does Reece think will take home the win at the Dessert Masters finale for 2024?

“One hundred per cent, I’m going in guns-blazing for Emelia. She’s my bestie, she’s my cake gal. We obviously were so excited to do this season together. And, you know, I’ll be backing her 100 per cent, no doubt.”

If you’d like to keep up with every tasty project Reece has been cooking up recently, you can check out his work at Cake Boi, Acacia Dining and the QT Hotel in Newcastle, as well as a new cookbook coming out soon.

Dessert Masters 2024 airs on Sundays and Mondays on Channel 10 and 10Play.

Colin and Manu announce surprising new project ahead of MKR finale

Audiences are gearing up for an action-packed season finale of My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2024. Amid the excitement, Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel have announced a brand-new project set to debut in 2025: Off The Grid.

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming adventure-packed series.

What is Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel’s new show about?

Although details are still sparse, Colin gave Yahoo Lifestyle a glimpse into what viewers can expect. He revealed that Off The Grid is a travel and adventure series filmed in New Zealand, showcasing the duo exploring the North and South Islands by caravan.

“We did the North Island and the South Island, and it was sort of like a chef’s dream scenario where you get to shoot, fish and hunt,” Colin said.

He added, “We did a lot of cooking with the Maori people, Manu and I got tattoos, which wasn’t planned, I managed to split my head open—you’ll have to watch the series for that one.”

The project was conceptualised by Colin and Manu, who pitched it to Network Seven and received the go-ahead.

Interestingly, news of the new show’s arrival follows whispers regarding MKR introducing new celebrity judges into the mix in 2025.

What to expect from Off The Grid

The duo’s Instagram account for the show gives fans a glimpse at the camaraderie—and chaos—behind the scenes. Colin described the dynamic between him and Manu as being “like a married couple without the sex,” promising plenty of entertaining moments.

Where can you watch Off The Grid?

Fans of Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel won’t have to wait long after MKR 2024 wraps up. Off The Grid is expected to premiere on Channel Seven in early 2025.

In the interim, if you’d like to catch up on MKR 2024, be sure to tune in on Seven or 7Play for the latest episodes.

You’ll be able to watch Off The Grid on Channel 7 and 7Plus.

MKR 2024: Fans feel they already know who has won the competition

The finale of My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2024 is creeping up, but fans have a sneaking suspicion the winner of this season has already been leaked ahead of time.

Here’s what we know about the 2024 contestants and who folks believe will be winning MKR this year.

Has the MKR 2024 winner been leaked?

As with every season before it, there are theories surrounding the 2024 season of MKR and its winners. This time around, whispers seem to be circulating about the possibility (or probability, rather) of Italians Simone and Viviana walking away with the win this year.

One Redditor wrote, “I think they [Simone and Viviana] are awesome and they are definitely going to win MKR as they deserve to.”

Another agreed by sharing, “I was thinking exactly the same thing after watching their record-breaking score.”

A third Redditor shared, “Simone and Viviana will win I’m confident.”

Over on Facebook, sentiments are similar, with one fan writing, “Even on their worst night, they are still above everyone else who has cooked so far”.

Another shared, “By far the best cooks and the best and fairest contestants”.

What do the scores suggest?

mkr 2024 winner leaked

Then there are the scoreboards.

Looking at round one, Simone and Viviana landed in second position with a score of 74 out of 110. In round two, the Italians landed the highest score in MKR history and topped the leaderboard with 104 out of 110.

In the Ultimate Instant Restaurant round, Simone and Viviana took out first place, with a score of 68 out of 100. In any case, if this insight ‘leaks’ anything about the winner of MKR 2024, it’s that the Italians certainly are competitive and will be giving the others a tough base to beat.

Meet Reece Hignell: Dessert Masters’ “purveyor of fine cakes”

As we approach the final rounds of Dessert Masters 2024, fans are rallying behind their favourite contestants as the talented chefs take on some of the toughest challenges in the kitchen yet.

One chef who continues to shine is best-selling cookbook author, restaurateur, and Cakeboi himself, Reece Hignell.

Let’s take a closer look at Reece’s journey and what he’s bringing to the Dessert Masters table.

Donato Toce with Reece Hignell on Dessert Masters.

What’s Reece Hignell’s baking background?

Reece’s love for baking was inspired by his late Nan, a true dessert master in her own right. Though his early career was in recruitment, he soon pivoted to pursue his true passion in the kitchen.

Reece is now a familiar face in the Aussie culinary TV landscape. He first appeared on MasterChef Australia in Season 10 (2018) and returned for MasterChef Australia: Back To Win in Season 12, where he placed in the Top Five among fan-favourite alumni.

Beyond the competitive arena, Reece has authored the best-selling cookbook Cakeboi: A Collection of Classic Bakes in 2022, named after his Newcastle-based bakery. There, he proudly serves as the self-proclaimed “purveyor of fine cakes.”

Launched in 2020, the vegan-friendly bakery has quickly gained a loyal following for its traditional treats and high teas.

Not stopping there, Reece, who adopted a plant-based lifestyle four years ago, has also just released his second cookbook, Cakeboi Goes Vegan.

Beyond the bakery, Reece has also launched Acacia Dining in Maitland, located in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, and completed a 12-month residency at QT Hotel Newcastle.

Reece’s standout moments on Dessert Masters

Reece has consistently whipped up a repertoire of impressive creations throughout the competition, like his stunning Circus of Ribbons.

But if there’s one dessert that truly made a splash, it’s his Soda’licious.

Inspired by the iconic Australian Spider drink, this dessert features blood orange sorbet, vanilla gelato, lime and ginger gel, blood orange bubbles, zesty “soil”, bubble fruit, meringue, and “a splash of cream soda magic.”

The dessert was a hit with the judges, Melissa Leong and Amaury Guichon. Amaury, who confessed he’d never tried a Spider before, said he “loved” Reece’s take on it!

Reece’s elimination

Despite being a standout this season, with his creations inspiring many to add Cakeboi to their must-visit list, audiences were stunned by a double elimination on November 18.

After an emotional story-inspired challenge, both Jana Lai and Reece were eliminated from the Dessert Masters competition. But we’re sure for Reece, his story is far from over!

Graham Norton will host Wheel of Fortune Australia — here’s when it premieres

Wheel of Fortune Australia is making its return down under, with the premiere set for Monday, 25 November, at 7:30pm on Network 10.

Hosting the revival is none other than multi-award-winning presenter, broadcaster, author, and comedian Graham Norton.

Each episode will see three contestants compete to solve puzzles and win prizes through a mix of fast-paced speed rounds and the iconic main puzzle board. The top scorer will advance to the Mini-Wheel, where they’ll tackle one final puzzle for the chance to win a grand prize of $50,000.

The Wheel of Fortune Australia reboot was first announced in September 2023, alongside the reveal of the beloved Irishman as host. Filmed in Manchester, England, the series features Australian expats living in the UK as contestants.

A look back at the Wheel of Fortune’s history

Wheel of Fortune Australia originally aired on the Seven Network, debuting on 21 July 1981 as an adaptation of the American series, hosted by Ernie Sigley. The show ran for 25 years until its final episode on 28 July 2006.

The first reboot, Million Dollar Wheel of Fortune, hosted by Home and Away actor Tim Campbell alongside Kelly Landry, aired briefly on the Nine Network in 2008 but was cancelled after just five weeks.

Graham will be the show’s eighth official host, following the likes of John Burgess (June 1984 – July 1996), Tony Barber (July 1996 – December 1996), Rob Elliott (January 1997 – December 2003), Steve Oemcke (January 2004 – December 2005), and Larry Emdur (January 2006 – July 2006).

To date, the longest-running contestant has been Melissa Roberts, who appeared in 12 episodes and amassed over $50,000 in prizes.

Now, with Graham at the helm, all eyes are on whether Wheel of Fortune Australia can reclaim its place as a staple of Aussie family television once again.

But wait, there’s more

The revival of Wheel of Fortune Australia joins a slate of returning shows on Network 10, including a delicious new season of Dessert Masters and the return of Big Brother Australia in 2025.

And for soap fans? Fear not! The US classic, General Hospital, is set to join 10’s lineup on New Year’s Day 2025, too.

Wheel of Fortune Australia 2024 airs Monday 25 November on 10 and 10Play.

Alisha Henderson reflects on her Dessert Masters elimination and who she thinks will win

After a magical bubble-centred challenge that saw our bakers creating all kinds of creative dishes, Dessert Masters 2024 had a shocking double-elimination. Sadly, Alisha Henderson was one of the contestants eliminated after her crumpet-inspired dessert failed to deliver to the degree she had hoped.

Chattr spoke with Alisha after her departure from the 2024 Dessert Masters competition about her experience in the kitchen and who she thinks will win the whole thing.

Alisha and the Dessert Masters bubbles challenge

Looking back at the bubbles challenge, Alisha shared that while she knows her creative thinking can help her to produce dishes that “can be very outside the box”, in this case it didn’t quite come together how she had hoped.

“I think for that one, my really grand idea just didn’t quite work. It was, perhaps, not up to the [same] outstanding standard as everybody else… because looking around, those bubble desserts were so sensational!”

Despite that, though, she shared, “I actually had such an enjoyable cook in there. I wasn’t stressed. I was just having fun. So, that’s fine by me. I was proud with how far I had come in a competition like that.”

The Dessert Masters experience as a whole

Speaking on the Dessert Masters competition in general, Alisha shared that while the time constraints and the challenges were stressful, it was “the good kind of fun stress that you know you’re going to get something so rewarding on the other side.”

She also highlighted that being in the competition with her fellow castmates brought a real “level of comfort,” which only added to the sense of joy that was carried throughout her Dessert Masters experience.

“We were all putting ourselves in this extremely vulnerable position to have, not just ourselves judged, but our professions judge like that… So, it is a very brave thing to go and do, but the camaraderie that I mean, as you saw, is just so genuine and so lovely, that it felt like a big beautiful family,” she explained.

To that end, Alisha highlighted that there’s nothing she would have changed about her time on Dessert Masters.

“I think, every day I went in there and I tried to show a different side of me and my skill set in each cook. That was really the main objective. I didn’t want to make a cake every single time I stepped into that kitchen,” she said.

Who will win Dessert Masters 2024?

Looking at the journey towards the finale, which is fast-approaching, Chattr asked Alisha who she thinks might be the cook to take home the win in 2024.

She shared, “Everyone is just so sensationally talented. I just think anyone from the original 10 contestants could easily have won.”

In saying that, she did stress, “I think that the skill that Jana has shown so far, she is my pick to be vying for the number one title. That sugar unicycle is truly the coolest thing I have ever seen.”

What’s next for Alisha Henderson after Dessert Masters?

Now that the Dessert Masters challenge is over for Alisha, what’s on the menu now?

She shared that her main focus at the moment is what she calls ‘edu-caking’. “For me, it’s about offering more in-person experiences [now],” she said.

Teaching classes here in Australia, and even in France with Jana, is Alisha’s main focus right now so she can connect with more pastry enthusiasts along the way.

Dessert Masters 2024 airs on Sundays and Mondays on Channel 10 and 10Play.
