Love Island AU 2023 Recap Episode 2: Reid delivers more than an explosion with a cray-cray confession

It’s episode two of Love Island Australia 2023 and it seems our Islanders are truly here for the mems.

During episode one, Trent and Tia coupled up, and since Trent has decided to put every single egg he owns in Tia’s basket, he’s decided he wants to take things to the next level.

Given that Zac is undoubtedly our s–t stirrer of the season, and after Savanah tells him that “Nate is hot property for all the girls right now”, he is “besides himself [sic]” and tells Trent that he’s gotta use it or lose it, a.k.a seal the deal with a kiss.

They decide to rehearse — because Zac is a “master of kissing” which is both comical and concerning since neither of them seems to have any game.

Trent and Zac. Love Island AU

Contemplating whether to use tongue (gross) and which “one-liner” to use, Trent feels ready to take the plunge. However, his nerves get the better of him when faced with Tia, and all their hard work is ignored.

Luckily, Tia is feeling ye olde’ Trent, and they share the very first kiss of the season and spoiler alert. He uses tongue.

Trent and Tia. Nine

“It was amazing, it was good to get it done and it cemented where we were at,” Trent says later on.

“I’m wrapped, the first proper kiss and with the hottest girl. It made it more serious and stamped a bit of authority with where we’re at with the other Islanders as well.” At least he has his priorities in check!

Lucinda steals yo man

In case you had forgotten, in great news, Lucinda from Love Island UK arrived as a Bombshell. In not-so-great news, she was here to steal yo man.

With 24 hours to pick which one, she embarked on some light speed-dating with Zac, Ollie and Nate. (For easy reference, Zac was paired with Savanah, Ollie with Kirra and Nate with Nakia.)

After the dates, she has her reservations. Zac is playing “too hard to get”, which is hilarious since yesterday he was fangirling hard and she’s also concerned Nate is too interested in Tia, even though he’s with Nakia…

At the Fire Pit, she’s made to choose and decides to couple up with… Nate.

“I would like to couple up with this boy because we’ve had some great chats, I like his style, the vibe is there and I’d like to see where it goes…” she said.

Even though she had literally nothing in common with Nate, Nakia is a little miffed that her mans was stolen. Host Sophie Monk then sends her to a *checks notes* waiting room where she’ll be “out of the game” and away from her fellow Islanders. Huh?!

Bomb Reid enters the game and delivers a shock confession

After Nakia’s weird exit, Sophie introduces a brand-new Bomb. Reid.

He’s a model AND a personal trainer and apparently, Kirra knows him. Well, actually, they matched on Tinder but nothing happened, which means, she doesn’t know him after all.

But, SURPRISE! The two have another connection. In fact, it once again has everything to do with Kirra’s MAFS sister Bronte Schofield.

In fact, Reid not only “hit up” Bronte IRL but they also slept together. WILD.

“You slept with my sister? Well, that’s news to me,” she says.

Reid and Kirra. Nine

And then another blow is dealt and this time for our man Trent.

Sophie reveals that Reid must couple up with someone right now and he steals… TIA!! Not Tia!!!

Trent is sent packing to the waiting room to join Nakia; however, before he leaves he tells Reid: “Good luck, because I’ll be back!”

DRAHMAAAA!

The Masked Singer Australia 2023 Recap Episode 10: Cowgirl is a very popular Aussie drag queen

It’s episode 10 of The Masked Singer Australia 2023 and we’ve hit the semi finals.

Cow Girl took to the stage for an impressive rendition of We Are Young by Fun, but unforunately for her, it wasn’t enough to get her through to the Grand Final.

Considering her stellar performances throughout the season the unmasking of Cow Girl was an exciting event, which quickly turned mediocre when she was revealed to be, well, exactly who we all thought.

The judges had some Kathy Griffin, Chad Michaels and Dolly Parton. However, it was Chrissie Swan who correctly identified Cow Girl as Aussie drag queen Courtney Act.

“I think some people see Courtney as a mask, but I thought ‘I wonder what it would be like wearing an actual mask,” Act said after her reveal.

“And it’s kind of thrilling because you have no fear because no one can see you, and if you mess up, it’s like it’s not about you, it’s the cow that did it.”

The Other Performances

Bouncer

Clues: Last time, I pulled out my guitar and plucked on the panel’s heartstrings. But were they on the money?

Being a Bouncer isn’t all about the big hits, though I do love them too. Sometimes the smaller stuff is more meaningful. That’s the precious stuff! There’s a right way to do things, and there’s a wrong way. The wrong way brings darkness into your heart, and we’ve all been there. The work is important, when we’re gone, that’s all that’s left of us. I’m getting all philosophical. Does that surprise ya? It’s just a little sign that it’s a big world and we’re all deep. Here we go, with the grand finale around the corner, it’s time to shut up shop!

Song: I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) by Meat Loaf

Guesses: Conrad Sewell, Peter Andre, Reece Mastin, Jay Sean

Snow Fox

Clues: “Up until now, I’ve been furrocious but the semi-finals are snow joke! Let me see if my foxy flair will take me through to the finale!

The one thing I’ve learned as a Snow Fox is that you have to put yourself out there to reach your destiny, otherwise, you’ll stay out in the cold. This is me, I’m a Snow Fox, not a Wolverine. Although I understand the confusion. Yes, still a carnivore, but you wouldn’t be afraid to hold me in your arms. Still, I am focused, I know what makes me happy and happier, and that is what is in the soul. So, act as if every day is your last. Then there’s no regrets.”

Song: Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell

Guesses: Jennifer Hudson, Samantha Jade, Sia, Kelly Rowland

Grim Reaper

Clues: Up until now, my killer moves have rocked the house. The panel thought I had un-dead-niable talent but the stakes have never been higher. It may be the semis, but I’m grand final ready. This lot are all going to be dying for more.

You don’t need to fear the Grim Reaper, even if you meet me in a back street. You see, I only want the best for everyone. Of course, none of us are perfect so I might take you to the devil to feel the fire or maybe you’re in a state of grace and you could join me with the angels. So, when you see me heading your way, it’s not over… it’s just the end of the dream.

Song: In Your Eyes by The Weeknd

Guesses: Darren Hayes, Adam Lambert, Sananda Maitreya, Nick Carter

The Masked Singer Australia continues Monday at 7.30pm on 10 And 10 Play.

My Mum Your Dad Recap Episode 1: Has Masi already been outed as a walking red flag?

It’s episode one of My Mum Your Dad 2023 a.k.a the season two premiere and when we say it starts off with a bang, we mean it!

Given it’s the second season, the nine new parental singles now know that their kids are watching — which is equal parts cringe and equal parts horrifying.

Back for another round is beloved host Kate Langbroek who takes us — and the brand-new contestants — to the lover’s Retreat, where there will no doubt be tears and laughter with a side of heartracing luuurv.

Kate Langbroek. My Mum Your Dad.
Kate Langbroek. Nine

Here’s what happened during Episode One.

Meet the parents and their kids

Before the actual fun began, it was time to meet the parents and their kids.

First up, mother-of-one Kim, 57, a self-confessed “red flag magnet” alongside daughter, Chelsea, 21. Basically, Kim is here to find a green flag…or even a beige one will do.

Next is Masi, 52, a father-of-three who was brought here by his son Harper, 18 and given Masi is a walking red flag a.k.a ladies’ man, Kim will probably fall head over heels in love with him…

Apparently, Masi has no trouble finding women, which is a concern in itself, but has trouble finding someone on his “level”. Harper just hopes he will “broaden his horizons”. LOL.

Masi and Harper. My Mum Your Dad.
Masi and Harper. Nine

Mum-of-three Dani, 51, was joined by son Brandon, 28.

In a more sobering moment, we find out that Dani lost her third husband, Paul Lyons, in 2019 due to a cardiac arrest and she has been flying solo for four years.

“I don’t want someone to think I’m a pathetic widow,” she told her son. “I don’t want someone to think I have heaps of baggage.”

Paul and Danielle Lyons. My Mum Your Dad.

More parents and more kids

Next, we meet Simmo, 54 and his daughter Sarah “Chook”, 21.

Simmo is a surfer dude who tends to “fall in love and fall hard”. CUTE! But he has been heartbroken too many times. Oh. Chook wants Simmo to find his “happily ever after”.

Rebecca, 52, is a delightful and quirky mother-of-two who has found herself stuck in the “middle-age housewife mode” but yearning for so much more.

Supporting her is daughter Gracie, 20, who believes in her mum’s quest to find someone deserving of her.

Maybe it’s father-of-four and pilot Ben, 51, with his twins Jasmine and Jaxon, 18, who throw their dad under a plane by calling him a “serial dater”. HA!

Then, it’s time to meet real estate agent and father-of-three Shannon, 51. Joined by his daughter, Katie, 19, he reveals he was married for 20 years and admitted that he needs to learn to love himself before loving someone else…

Energetic single-mum Michelle, 48, was up next. Her protective son, Jesse, 26 is along for the ride and they have joined the show with a “no more d—heads” policy. Same, girl. Same.

“I have relinquished all power to Jesse,” she said.

Finally, Tom, 53, a.k.a “Boss” arrived with his daughter Chloe, 21, who hopes that she can find someone who can put her dad in his place… considering this is his introduction, we are…concerned.

The first “Influence”

Now that the introductions are out of the way, it’s time for host Kate to prep the kids in the hi-tech surveillance Bunker.

“Who your parents date, how often they date… it’s all in your hands,” she says.

Their fast “Influence” is to decide the best match for their parent’s first date; however, given there are nine parents, one person will miss out.

The Bunker. Nine

The kids decide on the following pairings:

  • Kim and Shannon
  • Dani and Boss
  • Michelle and Masi
  • Rebecca and Ben

Unfortunately, Chook’s dad Simmo misses out on being chosen and Chook becomes emotional.

“I don’t want him to feel like he’s not good enough,” she says through tears.

Michelle and Masi’s date ends

Masi and Michelle embark on their first date which involves a spa complete with strawberries and Champagne. Naturally, Michelle’s son Jesse is uncomfortable AF when she feeds Masi a strawb.

“A MILF and a DILF enter a spa…” one the girls says. LOLLLL!

Jesse my mum your dad
Jesse. Nine

Masi uses the time to open up about his past marriage, admitting he was married for almost 19 years.

“Because of the FIFO life, I wasn’t there raising three little kids. That takes a toll on somebody,” he said. “She dropped me off at the airport one day and said, ‘I don’t want to see you anymore’. That really hit me hard. All I was worried about is ‘Am I going to see my kids again?'”

Even though he couldn’t stand watching his mum be intimate with another human being, Jesse calls Masi “genuine”… which is as foreshadowing as we’ve ever seen!

A shock confession from Masi

Since Simmo wasn’t chosen for a date, Chook is called into a secret room and is given some piping hot “dating data”.

“Women like bad boys because nice guys finish fast,” Masi says in the clip and one, gross and two… uh oh!

Chook. Nine

Chook decides to tell Jesse, who then decides to pass on the message to his mum Michelle.

“It’s going to help her make the right decision in the end, I feel,” he says.

When Michelle finds out, she’s understandably perplexed.

“Why does the drama follow me?” she says. “I just know how to pick them.”

Concerned she will make the same mistakes as in the past, she chats with the other mums.

Dani feels that Jesse is being protective — (“as he should”) but what will happen when Michelle confronts Masi?!

My Mum Your Dad airs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Nice try! Here’s who has left SAS Australia 2023 so far

SAS Australia 2023 is one of the few successful reality shows that doesn’t technically have a winner, nor does it have a prize.

Instead, 14 celebrities are put through their paces in a rigorous course that imitates a real-life military training program. If they make it to the end the directing staff will decide whether they’re worthy of being recruited.

While the prize money is obsolete, the celebs don’t join the gruelling reality show for free *feigns shock*. Each contestant has a predetermined salary worked out, one that isn’t meant to be shared but is sometimes leaked.

It’s believed that Sam Burgess, Mark Philippoussis and Nick Cummins were all paid six figures for their time on the show.

However, many of the celebrities don’t make it to the end, and leave the competition either by voluntary withdrawal (they couldn’t hack it), medical discharge or are eliminated by the DS team.

SAS Australia 2023 Recap Episode 9: A shock VW rocks camp and a desert storm hits

It’s episode nine of SAS Australia 2023 and a shock VW has left not only the campers reeling, but the DS too.

Only five recruits remained on the ruthless SAS selection course, and expert sniper DS Staz led a task to see who had the skills to identify a high-value target and take them out with one shot.

Given their indecision and ineffective communication, every single recruit failed the task which left the DS wondering if they could operate under pressure — the literal one thing they need to be able to conquer.

Ant Middleton and DS Staz, Seven

While settling back into camp, a rare desert storm hit, flooding their barracks and forcing the recruits to sandbag the entries while water poured from the ceiling of the dorm.

The grunt task and a shock VW

In a gruelling Grunt Task, the recruits faced their ultimate challenge – conquering a towering sand dune while hauling a whopping 40 litres of water.

As the other recruits pushed through, Mahalia Murphy’s body began to break down and she became the tenth recruit to withdraw from selection.

Telling the DS she was “done”, Mahalia said: “I can push through mentally, but physically, it’s not how it works.”

“Despite all the pain, the experiences have been unreal. Even the mindset, it’s given me a different perspective and made me think differently, which is going to help me a lot going forward.”

Mahalia Murphy and Ant Middleton, Seven

The DS interrogate the final four recruits

After Mahalia leaves the camp, the final four recruits – Abbey Holmes, Tim Robards, Matthew Mitcham and Craig Challen – are interrogated in the mirror room.

They were asked why they should be awarded the final selection and who they believed was the strongest and weakest among them.

Former Bachie Tim said he was the strongest while adding that Abbey was the weakest, while both Matthew and Craig agreed.

Interview: Kate Langbroek thinks My Mum, Your Dad is one of the most sincere reality shows on TV

My Mum, Your Dad host Kate Langbroek has compared the show’s format to other Australian reality TV series and explained that she believes audiences respond to its sincerity.

The show sees children bring their single mothers and fathers together in the hope of setting them up and finding them love.

During an interview with Chattr, Langbroek said that the contestants are genuinely joining the show in the hope of finding love.

“I think a lot of reality TV is a bit more cynical – you know that people are going on there because they want to lift their profile or they want to boost their business or whatever the motivation is.

“That’s not to say that it’s still not highly entertaining, but you don’t necessarily believe that people are really looking for what they say they’re looking for,” she explained.

“Whereas because you’re dealing with a different demographic [with My Mum, Your Dad], you know that the intentions of the people, the parents that have gone on the show are quite sincere. I think it’s the sincerity that gives it a resonance.”

The responsibility of dealing with family relationships on reality TV

The mother of four added that the showrunners behind My Mum, Your Dad take the job of genuinely matching up the singles very seriously.

“It has the best interests of the people involved because it’s a responsibility. No one’s casual about it because we have your children with us, and the children have brought their parents with them. So it means that we were not cavalier about that, and I think people respond to that.”

Langbroek said that there is a lot of bravery involved with the parents choosing to take part in a show that follows them looking for love while their children watch on.

“It is very courageous for people to commit to what is you at your most vulnerable, which is when you’re falling in love with someone, or when you just have to put yourself out there. To do that in front of the eyes and millions of strangers is quite incredible.”

Kate Langbroek on watching contestants fall in love

Langbroek gushed about how special it is to watch contestants fall in love before her very eyes on My Mum, Your Dad.

“When you actually watch two people fall in love in front of your very eyes on a reality show. That is incredible. I actually called my husband from the set and said, ‘It works! It works!””

She added that the fact that My Mum, Your Dad isn’t “orchestrated” like other shows, means that there’s a higher possibility of a connection happening.

“When you actually feel the connection from two people who really had entered the orbit of each other’s world and it’s almost like we don’t even exist. When you see it happen in front of you, it is incredible.”

My Mum, Your Dad airs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7:30pm on Nine and 9Now.

My Mum, Your Dad 2023 is here to give us viewers are hard-earned, wholesome break from all the catfights and scandals that play out on the ~*other*~ reality shows.

The premise of the series is that a group of single mothers and fathers are matched up with potential suitors by their offspring. While, yes, the concept is a little strange, the fact remains that the sons and daughters are on a mission to help their parents find love.

This year, the kids will be stationed at a bunker across the road and have the means to influence the parent’s dates and decide who will and won’t stay.

Love Island AU 2023 Recap Episode 1: A UK Bombshell, a love triangle and first couples revealed

It’s episode one of Love Island Australia 2023 and while we’re experiencing some hectic climate change here in Australia, inside the Mallorcan villa, things are heating up!

Before the drama begins, we gotta meet the spicy new singles looking for love.

Enter the girls: Tia, Savanah, Tyra, Kirra and Nakia.

Sophie Monk arrives in a Rav 4, with a number plate “da monk” which truly is Kween behaviour, before she asks the girls what “era” they’re in.

Tyra reveals she’s in her “f**k it era”, which is truly relatable for the end of October and the others are all like: “We’re in our, ‘I don’t give a damn what ppl say about me'” era… that is until they check they’re DMs after the show.

Tyra. Love Island Australia 2023.

Enter the boys: Trent, Zac, Ben, Ollie and Nate.

As the boys arrive one by one, the girls sip on bubbles and grill them.

First up is Zac. He’s a Kiwi. He does push-ups and winks at the camera… probably an exact portrayal of what he does in the mirror TBH. He also likes girls with darker features.

He’s also a jokester who is “unemployed and still lives with [his] parents”… Thankfully, he is kidding.

Zac. Love Island Australia 2023.

Next up is Ben who likes to kiss his muscles and says “As a King, I’m looking for a Queen”. He’s also a 22-year-old model, which definitely means he is 100% looking to settle down with the love of his life RN…

But….he’s also close with his mum, so he definitely 100% lives with her.

Trent arrives next and he looks… normal?! Like hot, but normal?!

Oh, wait. We spoke too soon. He’s 25 and a country boy who moved to the big smoke to no doubt get laid. He builds tower cranes in Melbourne because he loves “the danger, the high and the adrenaline” so basically, he’s also here looking for love… 🤦

Ollie is up next and he’s from the UK. That’s his whole personality.

“People think I’m an English cheeky lad…” and they’d be right.

Ollie, Love Island Australia 2023. Nine
Ollie, Love Island Australia 2023. Nine

Then there’s 24-year-old Nate. He’s a personal trainer so naturally we’re subjected to a montage of him working out…

After the “Hunk Shopping Network” (LOL), it’s time for the first coupling.

The First Coupling

To kick off the new season, there’s one hell of a surprise: the girls are “in charge”.

The boys line up and are asked to step forward if they like a girl they see and while I know this is supposed to be like live Tinder, dear god, it’s so freaking cringe.

While all the boys step forward for Tia and Tyra, no one chooses Kirra…who btw, you may remember as Bronte Schofield’s sister on Married at First Sight. (Yup, the one who tore Harrison Boon to shreds!)

After the first Coupling, the couples are as follows:

There’s a Love Triangle… already

After getting to know each other, it seems Tia and Trent have the most potential as a couple… for now.

“I’m so glad I picked him. F–k yeah, I make good choices!” she says in the Beach Hut; while Trent is already talking about eggs.

“I think I’ve put all my eggs in one basket,” he says.

Trent and Tia. Nine Love Island AU
Trent and Tia. Nine

But alas, this is FBoy Island Love Island after all and Nate has his sights firmly set on Tia and not his new partner, Nakia… so naturally, he pulls her for “a chat”.

While Trent watches on from the balcony above, confident that he’s already bagged his lady, Tia and Nate hit off, talking about…marriage and babies. Sorry, but how old are these people again?!

When questioned by producers later on, Tia admits that there could be something more meaningful with Nate and…uh, are we already going to see our first heartbreak of the season?!

An international Bombshell rocks the Villa

Tia’s pickle is interrupted by “A TEXTTTTTT”!

“Tick, tick, tick boom, the first Bomb is on her way. All the boys to the Firepit,” she reads to the group.

“Bro, imagine if she’s better than whoever you’re with?” Zac says and bro… FORESHADOWING (not the hot part, the wondering eye…).

Naturally, the girls…are pissed.

“Seriously now, we just got here… why do we need a new girl?” Tyra says.

Unfortunately, said new girl is not just any new girl. It’s Love Island UK star Lucinda.

Lucinda. Love Island Australia 2023, Nine

Zac’s draw drops to the flood and admits he’s “fangirling” hard.

“Lucinda is a 10 out of 10, the games have begun and things are going to get crazy…”

And he’s right because in 24 hours Lucinda will steal a boy! Oooooooh!

The Masked Singer Australia 2023 Recap Episode 8: A newcomer is unmasked

It’s episode eight of The Masked Singer Australia 2023 and we have the entry – and exit – of a new wild card.

The Captain joined the remaining masks on the show and belted out a highly entertaining rendition of Hey Baby (If You’ll be My Girl) by DJ Otzi.

Mel B put it succinctly when she told The Captain he was clearly “not a singer, but a performer”.

The judges took note of the sporting reference in his clue and guessed Gyton Grantley, Wally Lewis, Brendan Fevola and Rick Springfield.

Unsurprisingly, after his short tenure on stage, it was time for The Captain to take off his mask.

It turned out that Hughsey was on the money, and it was AFL legend Fevola.

Fevola explained that every year fans assume it’s him behind the mask, so he decided to join the show.

The Other Performances

Grim Reaper

Clues: Last time, death came knocking and the panel tried to guess the skeleton in my closet. Now, I’m ready to knock ‘em dead.

When you look back on your life you want to score a 10, it’s an important number to me. Of course, you could always aim even higher but success is 150 to one. In my life, I’ve seen it all, I’ve seen the ugly and I’ve seen the pretty and, while I take my job seriously, I am not my brother’s keeper. You know, life is complicated. That’s something you learn travelling this big world, and I have travelled all of it and more. Ambition is a good thing, it can take you from what’s holding you back. You don’t need to hide who you are… even though I still do.

Song: I Ain’t Worried by OneRepublic

Guesses: Dean Lewis, Matt Corby, One of the Boyz II Men guys, Mika

Cow Girl

The Masked Singer episode 8

Cow Girl really thrilled the judges with their performance, and in the clues there were a lot of hints relating to flowers, with Cow Girl even doing a tango with a rose in her teeth. One of her bodyguards also held up a sign that read “heart plus heart”. Finally, Cow Girl was seen playing the fiddle as a frog hopped across the screen. Do you know who this could be?

Clues: In the last performance I had everyone going Gaga, time to saddle up! Don’t worry, this isn’t my first rodeo.

Now is the time for this Cow Girl to bloom. I’m not talking about dancing, I’ve always had two right feet. If you could turn back time… you’d see I’m a born entertainer. It gives me a sense of euphoria. So, is my life an act? I certainly play the part and I can act very neighbourly when called upon.

Song: What About Me by Moving Pictures

Guesses: Trevor Ashley, Sophie Monk, Chad Michaels, Guy Pearce

Snow Fox

Snow Fox has been known to totally stun the guessing panel – and us at home – and this performance was no exception. During her clues, Snow Fox was first seen being papped by a series of photographers, before she was flanked by two versions of the Statue of Liberty. There was also not one but two snow globes featured in this clue package, one she shook up in her hand while the other sat behind her on a table featuring a Christmas tree.

Clues: My last performance was snow joke, and the panel tried to break the ice! Watch out foxy fans as I freeze the day!

As a Snow Fox, I want to do my job and look good doing it, even statuesque, royal, but always contemporary. Sitting here, I’ve taken a very strong sense of deja vu, there’s a real feeling of intimacy, don’t you think? Or maybe it’s more obvious, like… what have I inked? And there’s not enough wisdom in the world, or compassion, that’s the one thing I would change.

Song: Castles by Freya Ridings

Guesses: Jessie J, Lorde, Idina Menzel, Jessica Mauboy

Bouncer

The Masked Singer episode 8

Bouncer has the guessing panel hopping mad when it comes to his secret celebrity identity, and in the clues tonight we saw him holding a baby roo, maybe a reference to a Joey of his very own? Bouncer was also standing in front of some colourful bowls, yellow, red, blue and purple. Why do those colours sound so familiar?

Clues: Last time I nearly ended up as roadkill, and my identity kept them spinning on their tails. Look out Australia, this roo is ready to rumble!

Being a doorman is a little bit mysterious, you gotta play it cool. Hey, you! Hold up, are you 18? No? Then come on in! But no staying past midnight. You know, I love the Aussie countryside, but I felt pretty welcome in the Big Apple too. Those yanks say grace before every meal! Good people. I don’t know about you, but I like to lend other people a hand. Of course, flying solo isn’t so bad either.

Song: Even When I’m Sleeping by Leonardo’s Bride

Guesses: Conrad Sewell, Leo Sayer, Tim Cahill, Nathan Foley

The Masked Singer Australia continues Monday at 7.30pm on 10 And 10 Play.

“Utterly devastated”: The Friends cast share joint statement after the death of Matthew Perry

The core Friends cast have released a joint statement after the shock death of co-star Matthew Perry on October 29.

Exclusively obtained by People, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer said they were “utterly devastated” by the news.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” it read. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

Perry Chandler Bing on the hit long-running series, earning him an Emmy nomination in 2002.

On Sunday, the series co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane were joined by executive producer Kevin Bright in another statement.

“We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing,” they wrote. “It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives. He was a brilliant talent.

“It’s a cliche to say that an actor makes a role their own, but in Matthew’s case, there are no truer words. From the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us.”

Perry was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, October 29. He was 54.

The Block Recap Episode 50: There’s post-Gnome fallout & the houses are open for inspection!

It’s episode 50 of The Block 2023 and it’s ‘Open For Inspections’ day for the first time in four years.

But, before we get into that, let’s look at the fall out from the Facade and Front yard reveals, shall we?

ICYMI, Leslie and Kyle sold their gnome, which gives the team who holds it a bonus point at the reveals, to Steph and Gian. They partly did this because they needed the money, but also because they wanted revenge on Leah who questioned their integrity in the Backyard week.

Meanwhile, Leah and Ash had a gnome too and were blindsided by the sale that could have threatened their win. However, regardless of the extra Gnome, Leah and Ash won the week by half a point and took home the prize of a Ford Mustang.

The Block. Nine.

Despite having received the prize, Leah and Ash were salty that they weren’t told about the exchange.

As all of the teams packed up their belongings and got ready to leave The Block, Leslie told producers that she wouldn’t miss Leah and Ash because she never built a relationship with them or “got to know them”. Ouch.

Leah and Ash shared that they felt the same and accused Leslie of gameplay while throwing a few more jabs in her direction.

The Block. Nine.

The cover of Domain Magazine has been announced

The Blockheads arrived back on Charming Street after a three-month break, and Alice from Domain popped in to unveil the cover of their latest rental magazine.

It was quite clear that Steph thought House Four would be gracing the cover, but to everyone’s shock, it was actually Kyle and Leslie’s.

Elsewhere at the reunion, Liberty touched on which of the Blockheads she and Eliza are still friendly with.

“We’ve had a lot of interaction with Steph and Gian and Leslie and Kyle,” she reveals. “We love them.

“Um… the others we….” she begins. “We have not had [as many interactions].”

Meanwhile, it seems that Leah and Kristy have squashed their beef and can be seen getting ready together.

The Block. Nine.

The houses are open for inspection!

Potential buyers and a whole lot of The Block superfans flocked to Charming Street to check out the houses on Open Day.

While each house had its own dedicated fans, it was clear to see that the majority of attendees thought that Gian and Steph’s house as their favourite.

Whether that will come through in the sale price is still TBD! Tune in to the hotly anticipated Auction Day on Sunday to find out.

Betting odds hint The Block 2023 winner has leaked & Leah and Ash are in the last spot

The Block 2023 has some clear fan favourites – as well as some obvious front runners. And, one of those teams has very high betting odds of being crowned the winner.

Steph and Gian have wiped the floor clean with staggering betting odds of $2.00 on Sportsbet to take out the win, at the time of writing.

The Block. Nine.

While the childhood sweethearts are firm fan favs, the pair who have the second highest odds to win could be considered the biggest villains The Block has ever seen.

Yup, you guessed it. Kristy and Brett trail (fairly) closely behind with a return of $3.50. However, they’re neck and neck with reno-newbies Eliza and Liberty who have the same return.

The Block superfans Kyle and Lesley are fourth with $9.00 and Leah and Ash are considered least likely to win with a return of $10.00.

At the time of writing, betting on The Block has been suspended ahead of the auction which takes place on Sunday, November 5th.

What do betting odds mean?

Betting odds are based on dollar value. If someone bets $1, they’d receive back the amount the team was listed at. For example, if someone bets $1 on Steph and Gian, they’d receive a $2.00 return if he won. This corresponds with the amount deposited, so $10 would turn into $20, $100 would turn into $200, and so on.

The Block. Nine.

Are betting odds always right?

Not necessarily, however, they do give a good indication of who may win. Plus, in many past reality TV shows, they’ve correctly picked the winner.

For example, Brent Draper had the best betting odds to win MasterChef 2023, and he took out the title. Plus, betting odds suggested that Liz Parnov would win Survivor: Heros vs Villains, and she was, in fact, crowned the winner.

Watch The Block 2023 at 7:30pm Sunday-Wednesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Interview: Sophie Monk dishes on the most “dramatic” season of Love Island AU yet

Love Island Australia host Sophie Monk has teased that the drama on the new season is comparable to the spicy reality show MAFS.

During an interview with Chattr, Monk dished that the upcoming season is a rollercoaster.

“It’s the most dramatic one I’ve seen,” she said. “It’s hilarious, like laugh out loud. It’s so good. It’s really entertaining. If you like MAFS, you’re going to love Love Island.

sophie monk

“I can’t wait for people to see it. Once you start watching it, you won’t be able to stop. If you need a show to be hooked on, which I’m always looking for, it’s this one.”

The TV host added that she’s “obsessed” with MAFS, and said that she believes that reality TV fans who love watching scandals play out will be thrilled with Love Island Australia 2023.

“I was so heavily invested in the [MAFS] relationships, like yelling at the television and my husband and I had arguments over the behaviour. You get so passionate about these people and their lives. It’s crazy!”

On the new Villain Era

Love Island Australia 2023 has been promoted as having its “villain era”, and Monk teased that some of the Islander’s exes could be making an appearance.

“The Villain Era is like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna throw some s**t at you’. But it is true in real life, you, bump into people you don’t want to and whatever. We throw it at them really quick.

“[The Islanders] figure out whether they’re meant to be together or not, and don’t waste time. There’s just not one boring moment,” she said.

On whether the Islanders are on the show to boost their following

With the rise of influencers coming off reality shows in recent years, Monk said that producers vet the contestants carefully to make sure they’re on the show for genuine reasons.

“At the same time, even if they do go in for whatever reason, they cannot help but be tied into being invested [ in their love interest] because when they get rejected it makes them want that guy or more or that girl more. It’s just such a primal show, your heart is invested in it because that’s all they can focus on in there,” she said.

“It doesn’t matter how cool you think you are going in, there’ll be like a bomb coming, and it changes your world and you’re out of control,” she added.

Love Island Australia airs Monday- Thursday at 6pm AEDT on 9Now.

Crack on! Here’s how to watch Love Island Australia 2023

Some of the sexiest singles in the country and searching for their special someone on Love Island Australia 2023, here’s how to watch them do just that.

Love Island Australia is slightly different to most other Aussie reality shows in the sense that it is only available to stream and won’t be playing on regular TV.

The new episodes will be uploaded to 9Now at 6pm AEST and can be watched through the app or website.

Love Island Australia

What days is Love Island Australia season five on?

Love Island fans rejoice because we’re getting a healthy serving of episodes this year. New instalments will drop on 9Now on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Is Love Island Australia live?

Previous seasons of Love Island were recorded live, which meant that viewers could vote on their favourite islanders. However, that all changed in 2022 when the show pre-recorded the episodes, and selected a group of Super Fans who voted instead.

This year will be the same, and the Super Fans have the control.

Where is Love Island Australia filmed?

Love Island Australia 2023 is filmed in the same villa as last season, which is located in Mallorca, Spain.

Season one of Love Island Australia and Love Island UK 2023 were also filmed there. Season two of Love Island Australia was filmed in Fiji and season three in Byron Bay.

Host Sophie Monk told Nine Entertainment that the Love Island Australia villa has “had a few upgrades”.

The first is a “fancy new fire pit”. She also revealed that there are multiple areas for the couples to connect, saying that  “there’s more places to have a chat than Chat GPT can handle.”

The brightly coloured bedrooms are still around, as is the gorgeous pool and outdoor area.

The sexy singles on Love Island Australia headed over to film the new season in the exotic location of Spain.

The sprawling villa is located on the Spanish island of Mallorca, and is the same location where season one and season four were filmed. Interestingly, the last season of Love Island UK was also filmed there.

Season two of Love Island Australia was filmed in Fiji and season three in Byron Bay.

Who’s on Love Island Australia?

The new season sees a whole new batch of Islanders entering the villa, however, they’re not all new to reality TV.

Kirra Schofield is one of the five women initially starting the show off. She’s best known as the sister of 2023 MAFS bride Bronte Schofield. She appeared in multiple episodes of Married At First Sight season then and got stuck into a firey confrontation with Bronte’s TV husbandHarrison Boon, over his treatment of her sister.

Some of the bombshells have already been announced, which indicates that they may be joining the Islanders sooner rather than later. Amongst them is Lucinda Strafford who was on Love Island UK season seven. She entered the villa as a bombshell on day nine. During her time on the show, she coupled with Brad McClelland, Danny Bibby and Aaron Francis.

Abby Miller is also entering the villa, and she was a contestant one The Bachelors 2023. On top of that, she has a MAFS crossover; she was Boon’s ‘secret girlfriend’ who Bronte found out about at her televised ‘wedding’.

You can check out all of the contestants here.

The Block Recap Episode 49: The secret Gnome is played at the Front Yard and Facade Reveals

It’s episode 49 of The Block and time for the Front Yard and Facade Reveals and both the stakes and the drama are at an all-time high. But before we get into that, here’s what happened during the episode.

Prior to the judging segment, all of the teams except for Leah and Ash were aware that Leslie and Kyle sold their gnome to Gian and Steph. It was Liberty and Eliza who were particularly concerned that Leah and Ash would feel blindsided that it was revealed at the judging.

The Block. Nine.

On their final night, it started pouring rain, which was a major setback for painting and threw most of the teams off. While some got up early in the morning to finish off, Kristy and Brett couldn’t be bothered repainting the back of their entry door.

The weather cleared up and Scotty Cam arrived to call “tools down” for the final time this season.

At the judging panel, Leah and Ash and Steph and Gian were neck and neck most of the way through, however, unbeknownst to Leah and Ash, their competitors had a secret gnome.

The Block. Nine.

When it came to the final scores, both couples played their bonus point and Leah and Ash were left shocked, annoyed and worried that it would jeopardise their chances at winning the Ford Mustang.

“Look, Steph and Gian have played a game… hard,” Leah told the camera.

However, the exchange ultimately didn’t matter, As Leah and Ash won, and took home the new car as the prize.

Room Reveals

Steph and Gian

Steph and Gian’s stunning front garden left the judges impressed with their meticulous Details. They said they couldn’t help but feel joy when they walked through the front gate.

However, they weren’t so impressed with the limited lighting in the hallway but said, overall, they did an amazing job this week.

Leah and Ash

The garden and facade of House No.2 received high praise from the judges. They were impressed by the choice of colors, the fence, plants, and painting.

Upon entering the house, they were very happy about how everything seamlessly blended together, especially the grand staircase that wowed the judges.

Kristy and Brett

The judges said this week’s effort by Kirsty and Brett was impressive. The choice of plants was excellent and a significant improvement compared to last week for the couple.

The space was highly functional. Marty observed that House No.3 is highly livable and would attract a wide range of buyers.

Kyle and Leslie

The judges loved the turntable in front of Kyle and Leslie’s house, a great first impression. They weren’t massive fans of the grey colour of paint on the outside of the house, which was actually Scotty Cam;s suggestion.

Walking into the house it all made sense for the judges now, especially the living room wall gone. They said that Kyle and Leslie delivered a beautiful and warm house.

Eliza and Liberty

The judges were impressed with the grand entrance, and were particularly fond of the timber garage and facade, as well as the choice of plants.

House No.5 was deemed a stunning and fantastic family home by the judges.

Scoring

Leah and Ash took out the win and received the highly coveted Ford Mustang as the prize.
