Jock Zonfrillo’s widow Lauren Zonfrillo (née Fried) has written a book titled Til Death Do Us Part that explores love and loss, touching on her experience of losing the late MasterChef Australia judge.
Lauren took her Instagram account to share news about the book with her followers.
“The kids and I have been surrounded by so much care, so many people felt the loss of Jock,” she said in a video.
Lauren went on to explain that the overwhelming response to Jock’s death encouraged her to put pen to paper.
“It’s been really hard for me to explain how we got from absolute catastrophe to the new version of our lives, which, in spite of it all, is quite bright and optimistic,” she said.
“So I’ve written my book, which is my journey through grief. It was not at all cathartic.”
Lauren and Jock got married in 2017 and shared two kids, Alfie and Isla. The former MasterChef Australia judge was found dead in his hotel room in April 2023. His cause of death was never publicly shared.
Lauren Zonfrillo said writing the book took her to a “dark” place
During the video, Lauren told her followers that writing Til Death Do Us Part took her down a traumatic path emotionally.
“I reread journals from some very dark and broken places, and probably undid a bit of my progress, to be honest, but it did make me think deeper about some really complex parts of grief. And so I write about my spirituality and my connection to Jock,” she said.
Lauren explained that the book covers dealing with grief and her personal experiences with the matter.
“I write about my spirituality and my connection to Jock now,” she said.
“I write about grief amnesia, which is the physical response to trauma which has impacted my memory, my mind and my body.
“The unrelenting firsts that just keep coming in waves and living a life of intention and living with urgency.”
Till Death Do Us Part will be released on May 6, 2025.
