Eliminated Hunted Australia 2024 Fugitives Joanna and Lee have opened up about how real it felt when they were on the run from the Hunters.
The engaged couple told Chattr in a post-elimination interview that although they knew they were on a reality show, it felt as though they were actually running from authorities.
“It 100% feels real. You forget about the cameraman all the time,” Joanna said.
“The way things can go from 0-100 real quick made you feel like a real fugitive. We had $103,000 on us and we needed to get to the end, it was all up to nobody but us.”
Lee added that he found himself forgetting that he wasn’t actually a real-life Fugitive.
“It’s crazy,” he said.
“You forgot you’re even on a show at some point, it genuinely feels like you’re a criminal and you can’t trust anyone. Despite how we may have looked on there, we were under an immense amount of pressure.”
Joanna and Lee were prepared to finish the game solo
While Joanna and Lee entered the show hoping to get to the end, the couple told Chattr that they’d prepared themselves for the fact that they might need to split up at some point.
As it turned out, Joanna and Lee did split up during episode three, when the Hunters tracked them in their car and pulled up next to them.
However, their separation was short-lived as Lee was caught during that same episode, and Joanna was eliminated at the beginning of episode four.
“We had planned a little for this kind of scenario,” Lee said, referring to the couple separating in order to escape the Hunters.
“I don’t think we actually considered all of our gear to be left in a car, but in our case, if Jo got away I am positive she would have made it to the end after that kind of pressure. She thrives in moments like that.”
Aww, we love a supportive boo.
Hunted Australia airs Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
