Avengers star Jeremy Renner has undergone surgery following a snow plough accident on New Year’s Day.
The 51-year-old, most famous for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” and is now recovering in an intensive care unit in Nevada, USA.
According to his publicist Sam Mast, the actor’s family have expressed their “gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him.”
“They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans,” she said.
On January 1, the local Sheriff’s Office was called to Jeremy’s home, where he was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
The Mayor of Kingstown star had been ploughing snow 400 metres from his residence.
Jeremy Renner Shares Video Update from the ICU
On January 6, Jeremy shared a video to Twitter and Instagram from his room in the ICU.
According to The Hurt Locker actor, he hadn’t had a “shower in a week or so” and thought that a head massage given by his sister was her giving him a bed bath.

“ICU spa moment to lift my spirits,” he captioned the post.
He also included a note thanking his mum and sister, as well as his multitude of fans, “for all your love.”
Jeremy Renner Shares Instagram Message for Fans
On January 4, the actor took to Instagram for the first time to thank his fans for their support.
“Thank you all for your kind words ð,” he captioned a photo from hospital. “Im [sic] too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”
Jeremy’s star-studded friends and co-stars took the opportunity to share their well-wishes.
“Speedy recovery buddy. Sending love your way!” Chris Hemsworth wrote while Chris Pratt said: “Continued prayers your way brutha [sic]. ♥︔
Director Taika Waititi shared similar sentiments, penning: “My brother, I love you â¤ï¸” before Orlando Bloom wrote: “Sending prayers brah ððð«.”
A Neighbour Spoke Out About the Incident
According to TMZ, a neighbour revealed that the Snowcat machinery had accidentally run over one of Jeremy’s legs, causing him to lose a lot of blood.
Another neighbour — a doctor — applied a tourniquet to his leg until paramedics arrived.
The outlet also reported that the area was “treated like an active crime scene” and that the machine had “extensive safety features”, meaning it “should not have rolled over Jeremy.”
Before the incident, the MCU star had taken to Instagram to share footage of himself driving the large machine.
Jeremy earned an Oscar nomination for The Hurt Locker in 2010 and has since appeared in The Town with Ben Affleck. However, his turn as Hawkeye in Chris Hemsworth’s Thor catapulted him into main-stream success.
