Set in the ’80s, during the height of the ‘Satanic Panic’ in the U.S (there’s an entire You’re Wrong About episode on this if you want some context), the series centres on a high school heavy metal band that lands themselves in hot water after aligning themselves with Satanic material.

The show’s story is described by Binge as follows:

“When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the ‘Satanic Panic’ of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realise they can capitalise on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported ‘supernatural activity’ triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them.”

Spicy.

Who is in the cast?

The cast of Hysteria! is made up of a few familiar faces, like Julie Bowen (Modern Family) and Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect). They are joined by Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis and Nikki Hahn.

Recurring guest stars will include Bruce Campbell, Garret Dillahunt, Nolan North, Elijah Richardson, Milly Shapiro, Allison Scagliotti and Jessica Treska.

I don’t know about you, but colour me intrigued. The series seems to have a sort of Stranger Things-type-vibe, which certainly has me wanting to see more.
