The 2024 Met Gala is co-chaired by our very own home-grown Chris Hemsworth, and here’s how you can watch all the fashion and fabulousness go down from Australia.
This year, America’s biggest fashion event will take place on the evening of May 6th, but for us Australians, it can be a little difficult to pin down exactly what time – and how – we can watch the A-Lister celebs saunter into the prestigious fashion ball.
Fortunately, we’ve popped together a guide so that you can watch the ‘Super Bowl of Fashion’ happen live.
What’s this year’s theme?
Each year the global editorial director of Vogue Anna Wintour sets a theme for the event. This year it’s The Garden of Time – so expect to see flourishes of flowers and florals, as well as lots of ethereal and earthy colours.
When does it start and how do I watch it?
The Met Gala kicks off at 6pm in New York, and the actual event itself is private, so no one can see what actually goes down inside.
However, you can watch some of the world’s biggest models and celebrities arrive on the red carpet at the Met live on E’s YouTube channel livestream, which we’ve linked below. The live stream starts at 8am AEST time.
You can also watch a replay of Live From E!: The Met Gala 2024 from 5.30pm on Tuesday, May 7 on 7Bravo and 7plus.
Who are the 2024 co-chairs?
Every year Anna Wintour hand-picks a selection of celebrities to co-chair the Met. In the past, Blake Lively, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles have all been assigned the coveted role.
This year, the co-chairs are Chris Hemsworth, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez and Bad Bunny.
Where is it held?
Every year the event is held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on the first Monday in May.
