Hayden Quinn has revealed that he had so much more to show Australia before his untimely Dancing With The Stars elimination during the July 28 episode.
Hayden, who was partnered with Lily Cornish, was the first celebrity from group two to be eliminated, and the second from the competition.
During a post-elimination interview with Chattr, the former MasterChef contestant admitted that he was “disappointed” that he didn’t go further.
“We had done so much hard work and there were still some more dances to come. My next dance was my favourite dance,” Hayden said.
“[I’m] definitely disappointed. But obviously stoked with just being in there and having a go and doing our best.
“I would have liked to hang around for one more week to do my Pasodoble.”
The Pasodoble is a fast-paced Spanish military dance, that is regularly used by infantry troops. Hayden revealed that he and Lily were planning on performing it to We Will Rock You by Queen.
The Dancing With The Stars celebrities perfect multiple dances before the show starts
Dancing With The Stars rehearsals are rigorous, and Hayden revealed that the celebs spend weeks learning multiple dances before the show even begins filming.
“We had six [dances] in the bag ready to go,” he said. “So I think, really, maybe we should have just focussed on the [first] ones harder.”
Hayden said that he and Lily spent long hours rehearsing their dances for weeks on end.
“Gosh, it was full-on. I think we were at it [rehearsing] for like seven weeks or so,” he shared. “And we were doing five days a week, eight hours a day. Just going for it,” he said.
Hayden explained that he needed the dancing boot camp to get ready for the competition.
“You’ve got to have that intensity. Because, for me, I was learning a brand new skill right from the start. So it’s an intense crash course in ballroom dancing.”
Hayden said that learning six different styles of dancing was a big task to take on, and said he struggled at times to remember which steps belonged to which style.
“That happened all the time, although the styles are very, very different, it’s still very similar moves.
“Some styles you have to lead with your heel, others you have to lead with your toe and like if you mix them up, then you’ve completely stuffed. It gets a little bit all over the shop.”
Welp, at least Hayden has some extra dances up his sleeve to pull out the next time he hits a dance floor.
