Golden Globes 2024: Oppenheimer takes home top awards plus, the complete winners list

As the curtain falls on the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony, a star-studded list of celebs has taken home gongs for their work in TV and Film.

While Jo Koy’s opening monologue fell flatter than a pancake, some hugely successful titles — and streaming services — took home a gold statuette including Australia’s Sarah Snook and Elizabeth Debicki.

Netflix’s limited series Beef saw Ali Wong and Steven Yeun score the first two TV awards, Female and Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or TV Movie before later snagging Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made For Television.

Debicki walked away with Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role On Television for her role in Netflix’s The Crown while Disney+The Bear took home two awards including Best Actor for Calvin Klein’s newest model, Jeremy Allen White.

Succession wins big

Binge’s Succession has taken home a slew of awards including Matthew McFadyen who won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role On Television said: “Thank you so much. I just adored every second playing the weird and wonderful human grease stain that is Tom Wambsgans … Tom Wambsgans CEO — God help us.” Lol.

Keiran Culkin also won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Drama, burping as he got onto the stage while Snook took home Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama. Following her win, Succession took home Best Television Series – Drama.

Emma Stone wins Best Female Actor and Barbie nods

Emma Stone took home Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in Poor Things, beating out Australia’s Margot Robbie for Barbie.

Meanwhile, Billie Eilish O’Connell and Finneas O’Connell won Best Original Song — What Was I Made For — for Barbie while the film took out Cinematic and Box Office Achievement – a brand-new addition to the awards.

Robbie accepted the award on behalf of the cast and crew alongside director Greta Gerwig.

“We’d like to dedicate this to every single person on the earth who dressed up and went to the greatest place on earth, the movie theatres,” she said, before thanking Mattel and Warner Bros for greenlighting the project.

Thanking the fans once again, she said; “We loved making this film. Thank you for loving it back.”

Oppenheimer wins big

Oppenheimer has won big at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, winning Best Picture – Drama.

Elsewhere, Christopher Nolan won Best Director — Motion Picture, the first Golden Globe he has ever won. During his speech, he recalled how the last time he accepted the statuette was on behalf of Heath Ledger who won a post-humous gong in 2009 for his portrayal as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

Oppenheimer has now taken home five statues including Nolan’s and Best Picture plus Robert Downey Jr for Best Supporting Role, Cillian Murphy for Best Male Actor and Ludwig Göransson for Best Original Score.
