The Emily on the Train

The first teaser trailer for upcoming mystery thriller The Girl on the Train has made its debut, giving everyone the first chance to see Emily Blunt looking sketchy as all hell. Based on Paula Hawkins’ international bestselling novel, The Girl on the Train follows recent divorcee Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt), who copes with the pain of her separation by watching the happily married couple she passes on the train every day (Haley Bennett and Luke Evans). When one commute sees her become witness to something terrible, Rachel finds herself embroiled in a deepening mystery, her involvement in which even she is unsure about.

The trailer feels intense and eerie, backed by a spookified version of Kanye West’s Heartless. There are unmistakable shades of Gone Girl in the unreliable female protagonist’s attempts to make sense of a complex and dark mystery. Directed by Tate Taylor (who also directed Oscar winning drama, The Help), Lisa Kudrow, Rebecca Ferguson and Justin Theroux also star.

The Girl on the Train is slated for Australian release on October 6th, giving everyone plenty of time to hurry up and read the book, or argue with your friends about why it’s better to see the movie first.
