1) It takes around 12 hours for food to be entirely digested. That means that in only 12 hours, that delicious burrito you ate will form a small part of you and the energy you need for the day.

2) Your brains cells never grow back. Brain cells are the longest living cells in the body, and the amount you’re born with is all you’ll have to work with for the duration of your life, so try to be kind to them.

3) Think you’re pretty hot? Well I’m sorry to say but you’re nothing compared to Venus, the hottest planet in our solar system, which has a surface temperature of around 462°C

4) We all know that in space no-one can hear you scream. However, in water, sound actually travels four times faster than in air, due to the proximity of the water particles transferring the vibration at a more rapid rate.

5) The periodic table may include all the elements, however, it sadly neglected the poor letter J, which is the only member of the alphabet that doesn’t get a mention in the table.

6) “I’ll be just a moment” is a common expression in everyday life, but how long actually is an elusive “moment”? Well according to an old English system of time units, a moment is defined to be one and a half minutes (although when it comes to me getting ready, science has shown a moment may stretch out into several hours).

7) Ever felt like the sight of the moon overhead on a starry night could simply carry you away? Well you’re not going to leave the Earth’s orbit by any means. However, due to the gravitational effects the moon has, you do actually weigh a little bit less when it’s directly overhead. Easy weight-loss technique!

8) The planet Saturn has a structure that is less dense than water. This means that theoretically, if you found a bathtub big enough, Saturn would float in the water. Best bath toy ever!

10) The coldest temperature ever recorded on Earth was -89.6 C, recorded in Antarctica in 1983. The temperature was so low that carbon dioxide in the air began to freeze, forming dry ice, and only slightly warmer than your ex-girlfriend’s heart.
