Last night’s Australia Survivor tribal was one for the history books, as a challenge at the vote saw only three of the nine remaining Titans allowed to vote.
Heading into tribal, Kirby, Charles, Valeria, Kelli, Winna and Scott were in a strong alliance, and they had their eyes on Aileen and Feras to vote off. The only other castaway was Raymond, who was also teamed up with the minority alliance.
Things appeared to be straightforward enough, but that all changed when Jonathan LaPaglia told the tribemates that there was a (huge!) twist. Basically, all of the Titans would compete in a challenge, and only the three who finished it first would be allowed to vote, and the others would be vulnerable.
Kirby, Feras and Alieen secured their safety by winning the challenge, and the alliance’s power shifted to the minority. A split vote and the use of an idol from Winna resulted in Charles being sent home.
How does Charles feel about being sent home after the huge twist?
During a post-elimination interview with Chattr, Charles spoke about how he felt being the “collateral” damage that was sent home, despite forging a strong alliance and previously holding the power.
“It doesn’t feel great,” he said. “To be honest, I went into that tribal in a very strong position.”
“I spent a lot of time and effort building really strong social connections, and making social connections on my new tribe, we worked really hard to get in the position that we were in.
Charles was originally part of the Titans tribe, but after a shuffle up, his new tribe included only included two other OG Titans; Valeria, and Winna, leaving them in the minority. However, the trio built strong ties with Kelli, Kirby, and Scott, which gave them the power. Charles said the hard work put into these relationships didn’t pay off.
“I had some really, really tight connections with people on the new Titans tribe and a new type of rebels tribe as well. So going into merge, I thought that I was going to be in a really good spot.
“You do have to play the long game, and to have my long game cut short was pretty disappointing, to be completely honest. I’ll be thinking about that twist for a while to come.”
Does Charles think the challenge was created to keep Aileen and Feras?
It’s plain to see that Feras and Aileen are two of the Main Characters on Australian Survivor 2024, with both receiving a lot of screen time.
The surprise twist shocked social media users, with many of them concluding that it was included in order to save both Feras and Aileen. When Charles was asked whether he believed that was the case, he said he wouldn’t “rule it out”.
“The survivor Gods work in mysterious ways. I don’t have any insight into how they work, or whether they have preferences one way or the other. I’d like to think that it wasn’t the case, but I can’t rule it out.”
