Hugh Jackman has led the celebrity tributes honouring the fallen victims of Saturday’s Westfield Bondi Junction attack which killed six people.
Fourty-year-old Queensland man Joel Cauchi carried out the stabbings, sending shockwaves through the community and around the world.
Taking to Instagram, Sydney-raised Hugh said his “thoughts and prayers” were “with the families of the victims who lost their lives”.
“To the first responders and members of the community… your extraordinary acts of bravery are truly remarkable. With love and gratitude, Hugh.”
Rebel Wilson also paid homage to the victims, admitting that she and her fiancé Ramona Agruma, regularly visited the shopping complex with their 19-month-old daughter, Royce.
“My family and I have just spent a lot of time in Bondi and regularly go to Bondi Junction Westfield,” she wrote on her Instagram stories.
“I am horrified that such violence and tragedy can occur in such a special, amazing place where we always felt safe. This is just devastating.”
Married at First Sight’s Alessandra Rampolla also took to the social media platform to express her sorrow; revealing how Bondi was her “home away from home”.
“I’ve lived in Bondi since I first began travelling to Australia to film MAFS in 2020,” she said. “It was literally the place I was taken to the moment I was able to leave hotel quarantine!
“It’s where I’ve built profound friendships, amazing memories and mindful community. It’s my home away from home.”
Meanwhile, Sydney-born actress Tammin Sursock, who has now built a life in America, also paid tribute to the senseless killings.
“I’m completely horrified and devastated hearing the news about the stabbing and killing of six people and many critically injured in Bondi Mall, Sydney,” she penned on Instagram. “This is my neighbourhood and a mall we visit all the time. I’m not in Sydney right now, but my heart is broken. A child was also hurt.”
Former Married at First Sight stars Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant also paid tribute, posting a joint single frame to their account.
“Bondi Junction ðððððð 13-04-2024,” it read.
The accompanying caption revealed that the couple had only left Bondi Junction 1 hour and 40 minutes before.
“I am filled with so much sadness and Grief with what happened in our beautiful city yesterday. #BondiJunction“, Jules wrote on April 14.
“Im sending so many prayers, love and condolences to all the families who are left truly devastating beyond belief…
“As a family, we were there enjoying our day, the sun was out, smiling faces everywhere, and now I think what would we have done to protect our baby and other members of the Public? The what if is so scary and fills me with fear.. We left Westfield and walked through where the evil acted was played out to get back to our car only 1hr 40 mins earlier…. [sic]”
