A new report says that Blake Lively is worried about the future of her career following the promotion and release of the highly anticipated film It Ends With Us — not to mention the myriad of rumours and surrounding backlash.
While the likelihood of an It Starts With Us sequel was already looking grim, new rumours point to Blake second-guessing her future of producing, acting and directing altogether.
“Blake is definitely saddened by the hate she is getting and is trying not to let it affect her but it is,” an insider told Daily Mail.
“She thought this was her moment to shine but is now looking at it like the end of her career. She’s fearing no one will want to work with her after this.”
The source also said that Blake is consider her options moving forward but is still hoping to produce, direct and act.
“She knows she needs to take a step back for a minute to reassess the future.”
What is the It Ends With Us drama?
In case you’ve somehow missed it, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s bestselling novel It Ends With Us has been nothing short of messy.
What started with a rumoured feud between director and actor Justin Baldoni and the It Ends With Us cast, more specifically evolved into suspected creative differences between him and Blake.
As the movie started to hit theatres and it became just how serious the film’s themes were (the story centres around domestic violence), audiences were quick to point out how confusing (and damaging) Blake’s apparent marketing strategy was for the film.
For example, she urged audiences to “wear your florals” and “get the girls together “grab your friends” for the film while also promoting two of her businesses during the release.
This was in stark contrast to Justin’s approach which has seemingly focused on DV victims and survivors and bringing attention to the topic.
From there, past Blake interviews have started surfacing which do not show the Gossip Girl actor in the greatest light.
Even fellow It Ends With Us actor Brandon Sklenar has jumped in to defend her, saying the pile-on is counterproductive to the film’s themes.
Blake has yet to speak publicly about the It Ends With Us drama.
It Ends With Us in now in theatres.
