HBO’s dark comedy Barry is back for season three on FOX Showcase and Foxtel On Demand next month.
And I am here for it!
Our favourite former marine turned hitman turned actor is back – and this season things are going to get even messier for the “Air Jordan of assassins.”
Barry, played by Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader, continues to try and untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in his passion for acting.
Although he has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play.
Remember – he’s the most gifted assassin in all of America – of course he’s wanted by everyone!
Returning to the Emmy nominated show are Stephen Root (Perry Mason) as Monroe Fuches, Barry’s former handler currently in hiding; Sarah Goldberg (Hindsight) as Sally, Barry’s girlfriend in the midst of launching her first TV series; Anthony Carrigan (Gotham) as Noho Hank, head of the Chechen mob in LA; and Emmy winner Henry Winkler (Happy Days) as Gene Cousineau, Barry’s former acting teacher who is in mourning over the loss of his girlfriend Detective Janice Moss.
Also back for season are Sarah Burns (Enlightened) as Detective Mae Dunn, D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place) as Natalie Greer and Michael Irby (True Detective; Mayans M.C.) as Cristobal.
HBO have also release a series of first look photos for the season ahead starting with a still of a gruff-looking Barry, looking shaken in a deserted car park.
Another image shows Chechen gangster NoHo Hank (Carrigan) trying charm his way through a police interrogation, while Monroe Fuches (Mason) hides behind a goat.
Sally (Sarah Goldberg) takes a phone on the set of her new show in the photos, while another shows Gene Cousineau (Wrinkler) has an in-depth discussion with Barry in his office.
From co-creators, executive producers, directors, and writers Alex Berg (Silicon Valley) and Hader, the dark comedy returns for an eight-episode third season which will premiere on Monday, April 25 at 7.30pm on FOX Showcase and available On Demand on FOXTEL.
The HBO series has won critical acclaim since its debut in 2018.
In its two seasons Barry has received a total of thirty Emmy nominations and six Emmy awards including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Hader), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Winkler), Outstanding Sound Editing For a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation.
Season three of Barry will air on FOX Showcase Monday, April 25 at 7.30pm, and will be available on Foxtel On Demand
