Aussie Icons come together for SSM concert YesFest

YesFest is an event that all of Australia should get behind.

Some of Australia’s most iconic musicians, bands and celebrities are coming together for an outdoor music festival like no other, supporting the Same Sex Marriage movement.

YesFest, is going to be held on October 29 at the Sydney Showgrounds and will include the talent of Client Liaison, Flight Facilities (DJ), Heaps Gay DJs, Jack Colwell, Kirin J Callinan, Killing Heidi, KLP, Megan Washington, Nick Cester (Jet), Northeast Party House, The Preatures, Tkay Maidza and Touch Sensitive.

The event is being held in the final weeks before postal votes are due to be counted in lead up to the result of the survey.

The concert is going to be billed as a Live-Aid style event. It will have appearances from equality movement supporters such as Billy Russell, Courtney Act, Danny Clayton, Jordan Raskopoulos and will be hosted by Osher Günsberg.

Aussie legend and proud supporter of the Vote Yes campaign, Jimmy Barnes, said: “When I was asked to do this show I jumped at the chance to say Yes because I believe in marriage equality. Love is love and if you are lucky enough to find the one you love, why should anyone be able to tell you- you can’t get married. It’s a basic human right.”

YesFest will be broadcast live across the country on YouTube and is supported by content partner MTV, who will be covering backstage via Facebook-Live. Other partners supporting YesFest include Ben & Jerry’s, General Pants and Mardi Gras.

Australia is a part of a small group of Western democracies who lack same-marriage rights in our global society. Let’s all come together and make marriage equality a reality.

Because really, we’re all over waiting.
