Three-part docuseries Anatomy of Lies exposes Grey’s Anatomy writer Elisabeth Finch, who sent shockwaves through Hollywood when her carefully constructed web of lies unravelled.
For years, Elisabeth fooled Hollywood with tales so harrowing they seemed impossible to question. But the mask was ripped off in a tell-all feature published in Vanity Fair in 2022.
Now, the story behind her journey of deceit will be explored even deeper in Anatomy of Lies, a gripping docuseries that offers viewers an inside look at the lies, manipulation, and betrayal that fueled her rise to fame.
When will Anatomy of Lies be released?
The series will premiere on November 29 at 9:30pm on 7Bravo and 7Plus.
What is the scandal involving Elisabeth Finch?
Elisabeth, who also worked on The Vampire Diaries and True Blood, gained prominence with her powerful storytelling on Grey’s Anatomy.
However, her success was built on one of the most audacious fabrications in Hollywood history: a fake cancer diagnosis that not only landed her a writing job on the hit show but also earned her the sympathy and admiration of colleagues who believed her to be a tragic, heroic figure.
Finch’s writing, they thought, was informed by her own personal battles, her supposed suffering translating into genius.
But behind the scenes, Elisabeth’s most egregious lies were reserved for those closest to her.
How did Elisabeth Finch get exposed?
One of her greatest victims was her estranged wife, Jennifer Beyer, who trusted Finch with her deepest secrets.
Beyer would ultimately be the one to expose the truth, tipping off Grey’s Anatomy producer Shonda Rhimes about the writer’s shocking deception.
Now, as Beyer steps forward to unravel the web of lies that ensnared Hollywood, she faces the daunting task of reclaiming the narrative from a master manipulator.
Who’s behind Anatomy of Lies?
The series features insights from those closest to Finch, many speaking for the first time.
Directed and executive produced by Evgenia Peretz and David Schisgall, Anatomy of Lies is produced by Vanity Fair Studios in collaboration with Dorothy St. Pictures, with Helen Estabrook, Sarah Amos, Claire Howorth, Vicki Cooper, Melanie Archer, and Julia Nottingham serving as producers.
Anatomy of Lies premiers at 9.30pm Friday, 29 November on 7Bravo and plus.
