Actress Amber Heard, who was thrust into the spotlight following her divorce from Johnny Depp after domestic abuse allegations, is using her publicity for good. After settling the divorce, Heard donated half of her $7 million payout to the American Civil Liberties Union, a group she says  have “a particular focus to stop violence against women”.

Heard has since teamed up with GirlGaze to fight the stigma that domestic violence victims face, using a powerful and emotional video to tell her story.

In the clip, which was released last week on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November), Heard discusses her battle with domestic violence. She also shows victims that because her battle was so public, it has allowed her to reach out to others and show them that they are not alone.
