The Summit Recap Episode 7: The eliminated contestants were given the ultimate task

Plus, one Trekker is sent home.

It’s episode seven of The Summit Australia and day 11 for the Trekkers, but there’s a twist coming directly from the eliminated contestants!

After all the craziness of Sam’s ousting and prize money thievery, Brooke has now teamed up with Jans, Sam’s trusted ally. Is this a genuine connection or just a sneaky move?

Brooke’s downplaying of Jans’ links to Sam only adds to Indy, Josh, and Alex’s worries that Brooke’s getting in the way of the plan to vote out Jans.

As the seven hikers make their way up the mountain, a looming deadline of three days and a 165km distance covered so far can make anyone nervous. And yet, there’s always that one obstacle.

A checkpoint, 30kms away, stands between them and their destination, which they are almost a day behind schedule to reach.

Determined to pick up the pace, they commence an uphill climb, and Jans, looking to survive by being a group’s guy, decides to win over Isaac.

Jans. Nine

The Waterfall

As they reach a mammoth waterfall to cross, Jans recalls Isaac’s previous struggle with the heights, but now it’s his chance to befriend Isaac and confirm a rumour about a potential danger to the group.

Josh steps up to take the lead during the daring waterfall crossing knowing all eyes are on him. Bags on backs? No way, too risky! Josh decides to throw the bags himself as Alex helps toss them from the other side.

Unfortunately, their plan backfires and Jans is thrilled by Josh’s fumble. Meanwhile, poor Isaac is fuming and plotting to vote Josh off. But wait, Isaac saves the day with a brilliant throwing technique suggestion that gets the job done. Crisis averted!

As the group trudges on, wet, cold, and exhausted, Josh starts to feel the heat. The second leg of the obstacle looms ahead – a 200m climb up a rocky waterfall.

Josh, with his mountaineering experience, takes the lead to show off his skills but fate has other plans. He flounders and gets stuck mid-climb!

Josh. Nine

After a gruelling two hours, Josh finally reaches the top, hoping against hope that the others will be equally challenged. However, Jans takes the lead, showing off his mountain credentials, and inspires the rest of the team to conquer the climb.

While Josh watches them scale the heights with growing anxiety, he’s convinced that Isaac, after his last debacle at the waterfall, is going to have a “complete and utter freak out”

The race against the chopper

Isaac’s fear wasn’t enough to stop him from competing against Josh once again.

As they crossed the snowy terrain, the Mountain’s Keeper dropped a bag, launching the group into a race for a guaranteed seat on a nearby chopper.

Unfortunately, only six spots were available, which meant one person would be left behind. Josh quickly nominated Jans for elimination, but Isaac had other plans. He spilled the beans to Alex about Josh’s desire to see him gone on the waterfall abseil.

The Summit Trekkers and Jai Courtney. Nine

Nervous about his spot in the competition, Josh added Isaac to the elimination list. However, during the vote, Isaac put Josh’s name forward, and the group followed suit, saying their goodbyes as Josh left the campsite.

Celebrating their victory with champagne, the remaining hikers soon learned that the eliminated group held control over the prize money distribution and forces were at play at the base of the mountain…

The Summit continues on May 30 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.
