Season 8 of The Great Australian Bake Off is well underway, and our 2024 cohort of cooks is battling it out in the shed. But where exactly does the magic happen? If you’ve ever found yourself wondering where The Great Australian Bake Off is filmed, consider this your guide.

What is The Great Australian Bake Off?

If you’re new to this wholesome world of baking shows, allow me to offer an introduction. Bake Off is a hugely popular cooking competition show (rooted in baking challenges) that started with The Great British Bake Off in 2010.

Since the inaugural season kicked off, it has branched off into many other countries, like Australia.

The series sees amateur bakers compete against one another for the title of best baker. Each week follows a theme, like Bread Week (my fave), Biscuit Week or Cake Week and the cooks will have three challenges to complete each week. At the end of each set of challenges, a Star Baker is named, and one contestant is eliminated (heartbreaking).

Where is The Great Australian Bake Off filmed?

As serious fans of Bake Off will know, the original British version of the show is filmed in the Bake Off tent, which is set up at Welford Park country house in Berkshire. In Australia, however, our contestants bake their little hearts out in the Bake Off shed.

Since The Great Australian Bake Off began production in 2023, the shed has found a home in a few different locations.

Per IMDb, the initial filming location for the cooking show was Werribee Park Mansion in Victoria.

In 2015, it was announced that the series would be packing up its aprons and moving across to The Yaralla Estate in Sydney.

More recent seasons are listed as having been filmed in Sydney also, but a specific location for The Great Australian Bake Off shed has not been confirmed. Mysterious!
