For the first few weeks of MKR 2024, the six teams have been busy touring around Australia and competing against one another, but now it has come time for the first elimination.
In round one, every team prepared a three-course meal in their own Instant Kitchens for MKR judges Manu Fiedel and Colin Fassnidge.
After each dining experience, the judges and the MKR contestants score the meal, deciding their place on the MKR leaderboard.
In previous seasons, the first elimination took place after round one was complete, and every team had held their own Instant Kitchen. The team with the lowest scores at the end of Round One was sent home.
However, MKR has a new twist. This year, the two teams with the lowest scores at the end of Round One will be sent home.
“Teams, we told you that every single point matters and there was a twist coming,” Manu said. “An MKR first; tonight, two teams will be going home.”

Danny and Sonia
After Manu informed the contestants that the bottom two teams would be sent home, he told Danny and Sonia, who were at the bottom of the leaderboard, that they’d been eliminated because only Mike and Pete’s scores had yet to be revealed.
“Danny and Sonia, as the lowest-scoring team, you cannot be saved; you are eliminated from the competition,” Colin told them.
“You’re on the bottom, so it doesn’t matter if you’re at the bottom or second bottom. We got no saving grace; we’re done,” Danny said.
“At the end of the day, every journey’s gotta end, but it’s not going to stop me from cooking,” he added.
Ash and Cassie
Manu and Colin revealed that Mike and Pete’s overall score was 72, which meant that Ash and Cassie had the second-lowest score on the leaderboard, at 60 points, and they were sent home.
“Thanks so much for having us; it’s been an awesome experience getting to know you all,” Cassie said.
“We are so incredibly proud of ourselves; we’ve given it a red hot crack, and we’ve done our absolute best,” Ash added.
Who will be eliminated next on MKR? At this stage, it’s anyone’s guess!
